If I have good health I would be happy to live to age 100 and beyond.
If I have good health I'm happy to keep on living.

How many centenarians (people who lived to age 100) do you actually know? (I don't know any.)

My bro in law died just a week before he reached 100.
Good health but short life or bad health and long life?

Ooh that's a tough one but I would have to go for short life and good health. Does anyone want to live a long life with poor quality?

Nobody can MAKE people do anything. Even when people are threatened or forced with violence, their mind does not submit or yield to what they are being "made" to do.

I believe in the triumph of the human spirit. Can the human inner spirit ever be crushed? <3

Thanks for the video - good voice there.

The weaker get succumbed to pressure. Are you spiritual or religious?

I'm more spiritual. Isn't religion the root cause of many wars?

I'm a fan of the singer Gloria Estefan (the lady in the video I shared). She survived a terrible accident and I'm sure that song “Reach” has a special meaning for her.

Do you notice that many songwriters seem to draw from their real life experiences and that their song lyrics often reflect those life experiences which have somehow enhanced their “out of body” or spiritual perspectives of life?

It only makes sense to write songs about what you know and experience first hand. I think it makes a song or even a book more powerful. Don't you think so too?

Agree. Difficult or tragic life experiences shape everyone but not everyone can express the impact. People who can write songs or books and even artists can make everyone else see, hear, and feel the experience. I don't think Frida Carlo's art would have been so powerfully emotional if she had not experienced such tremendous pain in her life.

Have you ever watched the Canadian TV series "Murdoch Mysteries"? :D

* * Thanks to Netflix I was cured of my addiction to British mystery TV series by being introduced to Sherlock-Holmes-type detectives who were Australian, Canadian, etc. It's my new and improved addiction. I enjoy the show. I think it's good.

Are you ready for the weekend? Ever imagine a world without weekends? :D

I'm unemployed so I have eternal weekends. Although, it is nice not to have to get the kids to school for the next two days. But I do online work all week long so I guess I don't have free weekends either. Oh well, I will survive.

I would rather imagine a world without work. How about you?

I always thought I would hate being retired but I actually enjoy it although I do have a child to look after so not really free to do what I want. I would love to travel a bit some day. Does anyone here want to travel?

After my accident I put a brake on my travel craze. My last trip was to New Zealand and Australia. How about you? Where did you travel last?

I can't imagine a world without work. I have had the actual experience of NOT having a job and doing housework just wasn't cuttin' it! Even if it's unpaid work (though paid is better), people must have industrious labor. They say “An idle mind is the devil's workshop.” No. No. FACT: An idle mind will set you crazy!

* * I think work is critical to a person's sanity. Agree or Disagree?
I can imagine a life without travel. But not a life without work.

bestwriter wrote:Where did you travel last?

My last "travel" was relocating my family to Austin, Texas from El Paso, Texas. 1998.

Many people don't want to travel these days because of the tragedies that get reported in the news. My reason is simply financial. I can't afford it.

* * However, I would never let tragic incidents create such an overwhelming fear in me that I don't want to travel any more. Would you?

No, I wouldn't either! If we did, we'd never leave the house at all, held to ransom by all manner of fears; real and imagined. Besides, I love travelling and interacting with new people too much to let fear stop me enjoying that. If money wasn't an object, I'd choose travelling over working any day hahaha

Anywhere, where's the fun in working?

Actually I once had a job where I considered the work "fun". It was a challenging job and my co-workers probably didn't agree with my description. But when I was thoroughly engaged in a project, I admit that the reason the work was so "easy" for me to do was because I thought it was FUN!

So you don't agree that work is important to a person's psyche and is a critical component of everyday life such that it contributes to their self-worth and self-esteem by helping them feel fruitful and productive?

(My daughter is taking a Psychology class this year. I'm practicing asking her questions.  )

I don't think you have to have a "job" in order to be productive. I don't work but I use my mind everyday and I try to be productive every day. I have 2 children to raise so I have to be somewhat productive. I love Psychology and once thought to study it but then I realized I have too many of my own problems to be of use to someone else.

I always feel fruitful especially if I have eaten a lot of fruit!!!!!
