Is there a good and reputable site to learn more about this stuff from?

You might try ShoutMeLoud.com and SEOClerk.com. Hope this helps.

It's October and the holiday season in the USA has officially kicked off. Repeating a tip passed to me by @thisnthat, if you get a gift card that you don't want.

Did you know that you can exchange gift cards you don't need or want for Forum Coins?

UUuummm ... lots of people. :? There are gift cards for everything. Sometimes people get restaurant gift cards to restaurants where they don't like to dine. Suppose you were a vegan and you ended up with a gift card for a steakhouse restaurant. It happens.

Would you exchange a gift card for a restaurant you don't like or just give the card to somebody who might appreciate it?

LOL I just asked for the sake of the game. I'm so glad I'm not vegan so I can use the steakhouse gift card. Yummy.

I would exchange it unless I needed a gift for someone for a birthday or a holiday. Of course, there are always the Visa/Mastercard gift card options and they can use them anywhere. Those are nice if you're not sure what restaurant gift card to get.

If you give gift cards now, what type of gift did you give before gift cards were available like they are nowadays?

Good question. Gift cards are just the substitute for people who used to be too lazy to shop and would give money.

As far as I was concerned, I would rather have cash. But some people interpret it that you couldn't or wouldn't take the time to shop for the perfect gift for them. Those same people also complain about receiving gift cards. So nothing was fixed! The complaint didn't go away.

Ever employ the "white elephant" strategy for giving and receiving gifts?

I love cash. You can give me cash as a gift any day. It's so versatile.

What is the "white elephant" strategy?

People buy inexpensive gifts and wrap them. In the bunch is a gag gift (usually something that nobody wants like a bedpan). They number each gift. They take pieces of paper, each with a number, put them in a box, and people draw a piece of paper from the box with a number on it. Then everybody sits around and the gift giving/receiving/exchanging begins. It's loads of fun! :D

The person who picks Number 1 is the luckiest of all.

Number 1 chooses from all of the wrapped gifts to start things off. She or he can't exchange or swap because nobody else has opened any of the other gifts.

Number 2 picks. They either keep the gift they picked OR tell Number 1 to give up their gift. It's a forced exchange. Number 1 can't balk because that's how the “white elephant” game is played.

Number 3 picks and can keep the gift he or she picked or choose from the gifts opened by Number 1 or Number 2. The process is repeated until all of the numbers have been used up.

But guess what? At the end, Number 1 now knows all of the gifts, because they have all been opened, and gets to pick the gift they really want!!

Fun huh?

Have you never played the “white elephant” gift game?

From what understand there are machines you can go to like vending machines and trade in your gift card. Have you ever seen one or tried one??

The answer I expected was "No. But I know how to play the name game." That would have been my answer.

Do you know how to play the name game?

Yes I have earned. I look for communities and sites that allow affiliate links and also place them at my own sites. I also share my affiliate links via social media. I have earned. Just not regularly or consistently.

Does this answer your questions? <3

Check out the video. Learned the name game when I was kid. :D

The name game I can play. It's the blame game I don't know how to play. I'm totally clueless as to the rules.

Do you know the rules?

Memory games are good for me, since I'm trying to strengthen mine.

I play the memory game on Swagbucks each day (plus I get points for it).

Have you played that game?

I have played that game. I love word games like Scrabble. I like card games too and have a Rummy 500 game downloaded on my tablet. Crosswords are fun too.

Wouldn't it be nice to get paid a regular salary for playing games all day long?
