Personally, I'd like to try edible ants first!

Ahhh, this is a cool answer.
What is normal to some may possibly be exotic to others.
Hope you enjoy your first pork dish!

We have been having problems with groundhogs lately. Every time we catch one in the trap I keep wondering if I can find a good recipe instead of releasing them somewhere else. Just seems like something most people don't eat and I have been wondering how they might taste.

When I was a teenager, I had a little bit of money on me. There was a Polynesian restaurant that had opened in Miami, Florida. I decided to go an eat there. I was by myself. It wasn't a date. I can't remember what the dish was that I ordered. But the food was so good! I don't even know if it was an authentic Polynesian restaurant. But if that was authentic Polynesian cuisine, I would like to enjoy that experience again. :D

Excellent idea! How about non-mammals? Are there any non-mammal exotic food that you'd like to try?

Well, I have been adventurous in trying many non traditional foods over the years. I enjoyed frogs legs, crocodile, snake, snails, octopus, jellyfish and other various sea critters, and of course RK stew (Road kill-unknown) among the more adventurous items. I've eaten meals at a wide variety of country specific restaurant venues and don't even remember the whole list. I had a terrible allergic reaction to the croc and the jellyfish was like chewing on cellophane plastic, but everything else was fine.

Wow - that is a long list of exotic food! Among them, what made you go for a second helping?

Well, back when I was growing up, our family had a favorite local restaurant named the "M & R". We jokingly called it "The Mice & Rats" because of their unusual menu options but I don't really know what the initials were for.

They offered an unbelievable all you can eat buffet every Sunday and a regular choice was the frogs legs. I don't know where they got them, but they were as big as chicken legs and that restaurant did an outstanding job of preparing them. I ate several almost every time we went there. If I go in any restaurant and see them on the menu I would select that as my meal for the day although I have never seen them that big at any other place.

The rest ... at least I can say I tried them.

Frog legs!! Forgot about those. I saw my friend et them. He went out to a restaurant for dinner the night before and there was too much food so he took home a doggie bag. The next day he brought the leftovers into work and ate them for lunch. I just sat there at the table in the lunch room and stared at him. I couldn't believe he was actually eating frog legs. I still don't have the courage to try them.

Another friend suggested I try racoon meat. He said you could buy it in a can at certain stores. I'm thinking to myself; WHY??

I can see myself eating frog legs but racoon meat is an entirely different animal (pun intended)! 🦝

A former roommate always prepared buttered crab. I think I had a taste but cannot remember the taste.

I think that I would like to prepare buttered crab.

Oh yes! I consider lobster exotic. I would like it with lemon and butter sauce. I had it once but that was years ago. Lobster isn't exactly cheap! :)

In our country, crab meat is mainstream. Different cultures, different tastes! :)

My late husband grew up in The Bahamas. Lobster and crab were common meals. His uncles were fishermen. But where I live in land-locked Texas, it's expensive!

@Spontaneo - I didn't mean to say that lobster and crab were the same, other than the fact they are both shell fish. It's just that your mention of "buttered crab" reminded of lobster with lemon butter sauce. Oh no! I'm drooling again! :D
