20 days now, no power

Postby kat82 » 18 Jun 2025, 17:54

It's been 20 days now. We have no power at home. I carry all phones with me to place of work for charging. It's total darkness. It's scary.

20 days without power...that's too long. What's the reason?

Is something wrong with the transformer, or what exactly is the issue there?

Power outages are much more common than most realize. Although most are due to temporary issues that are repaired and services restored within the same day, some issues can last much longer as a result of damages from a severe storm in your region, or an attack on a power station or even some major system collapse that can take weeks for repairs.

Just so you know you are not alone, take a gander at the power outage report for the US. This report is updated every 15 minutes and shows the power outages as they happen. Just look at the numbers. Rather than seeing any outage listed here and there, you will be shocked to see that power is out everywhere all the time. it is rare to find any state with zero outages at the time you look. And all of this is even before we are all forced to switch to electric cars. The US Power grid cannot handle a nation full of electric cars.

That's terrible. The power supplier should announce earlier if there's a power outage or interruption as to what extent. The consumer would suffer much of the inconvenience if it will last long. Imagine in your case, it takes 20 days. By the way, what was the cause?

Wow, 20 straight days without power?!? What happened?? In my country, we regularly have power outages because our leaders have been sleeping on the job. Even though we could have leaned on renewables YEARS ago because we have 300+ days of blisteringly hot days, we continue to import power  A DISGRACE. But the longest outages usually last a few hours. That's why my husband and I got ourselves an inverter.

In many developing lands, power outages are frequent. And can last for days.
