Although it gives some security compared to much volatile markets in say share market, but does it give us worthwhile returns considering the introduction of various taxes?

in. my country you can do fixed deposit with any bank for interest. Yes it is worth it. you can fix your money for months with them for a little interest

It's worth it depending on rates offered by banks. I wait for their promotions but there are other options as well so I prefer to diversify. Do note that fixed deposit will need you to lock up your funds for a long period of time for the best rates.
