I used to write for a site that I really liked. They'd advertise for people to pay a subscription for Gold membership. I paid it 2-3 times, but you didn't really get much in return, so that it felt like you were working to pay the site. I've never liked the subscription model from that point on. When I saw this post, it gave me jitters, so I'm not at all surprised. Plus a $30 withdrawal threshold on a paid to post forum site?! That for me was one of the red flags.

Life is always based on subscriptions otherwise most of service websites will die. Not because there is a misaventure that means you will avoid any subscription kind website.

If majority of internaute use brave browser then website won't get monetized so they offer subscription to earn decent money and not force to disable adblocker for a monthly subscription let's say 1 $ or turn off your ad blocker. This is the simplest form of subscription not talking about other services.

$30 withdrawal threshold is very high, it'll be nearly forever to actually get paid on the site.

It can be very annoying when you put for subscription on an earning site but you don't get to be paid. It smells outright scam to me.
