ToTW Selling your hair

Postby Netherrealmer » 21 Aug 2021, 06:41

Some People are able to make extra money by growing their hair super long and straight then sell it to hair traffickers. These hairs are used to make wigs and hair extensions. America is usually the number one customer and there is a high preference in Indian and Brazilian hair. SO most of these hair extensions are trafficked from India and Brazil. If you are willing to grow your hair super long to make extra money it could be your opportunity, especially if you are Indian or Brazilian.

Sometimes these hairs are dyed into different colors. The number one customers most of the time are African American women. Most Black women are not born with straight hair so they buy Indian and Brazilian hair to turn them into weave. Weave are extensions sewed in women's hair so they can have the illusion of having straight hair.

I think nowadays a lot of wigs in the market are made of synthetic fiber. The fiber that is used for synthetic wigs looks and feels just like human hair and is a fraction of the cost.

Human hair actually have more value especially if its Brazilian or Indian. Plastic wigs are cheap. Indian or Brazilian hair is like status symbol among Black women and also drag queens. If you can afford Indian or Brazilian hair it means you are well off.

My friend used to do this. She usually has long shiny hair, and sell them when she needs money.

Yes, that's me - guilty as charged! I love wigs and use them to change styles form time to time. However because Botswana is roasting, wearing a wig is out of the question for me. Instead, I go for tape hair extensions, which I get my stylist to attach. To look at my hair once it's done, you wouldn't be able to tell I had extensions in! It's more breathable and realistic looking, whereas with wigs, if you're not good at installing them, they can look look a right HOT mess.

A lot of students do this. They get around $50 or so per haircut, but the hair has to be a certain length before you start selling it.

I have checked the sites, where you can buy and sell hair. However, I am not interested in selling mine. I will consider it if I am ready to cut my hair.

When my granddaughter was younger she used to give her beautiful red hair to a company that made wigs for cancer patients.

I have never tried selling my hair but I know some people who are doing it and taking it as a business and it really gives them some sort of extra income rather than throwing their hair to garbage collectors.

Some people had great luck selling their hair on websites like Ebay. Also, people advertise the sale of their hair on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

I wouldn't mind provided that it wouldn't be used for anything fetish
Just buy from me and use it on your hair that's all.

Once you sell it, you are out of control.
It's up to the new owner what they do with it.

Fetish people gives out the most money though. They paid me thousands of dollars for pictures of my feet. They also paid me 500 dollars of a pair of my dirty socks. I'm sure they use it for creepy purposes but money is money.

I have long hair but my hair isn't strong so selling it is out of question. Wigs can be used by women who are doing chemotherapy, the natural the better, wigs make them feel better and I am all in favor of it.

I admire this selfless gesture of your granddaughter. It must be enlivening to have such beautiful soul as a relative.

Any action that has the potential of helping people with cancer to obtain some level of comfort is much welcome.

Re: Selling your hair

Postby Jem Smith » 03 Jul 2023, 04:08

I had someone offer to buy my hair when I was young. It was very long at the time and an unusual natural colour, but I didn't want to do it. I was offered $200, but as a young girl I loved my hair and didn't want to spent a long time growing it back. I couldn't sell it now because there are certain specifications, like minimum length and it can't be dyed or have any grey. Seems fair enough to do if you want to though.

In my home country, you can get just a packet of salt or some cheap earings from your hair. There is no big market.
