Marketing on a budget

Postby sweerie_banana » 02 Apr 2025, 19:54

When I first started my business, I had almost no money for marketing, so I had to get creative. Posting consistently on social media and engaging with people in niche groups brought in my first customers. I also used free tools like Canva to make my ads and ran a referral program that rewarded customers for bringing in friends. Over time, word-of-mouth and organic traffic became my biggest growth drivers. What’s your best low-cost marketing trick?

For me so far, my best low cost advertising trick has been the use of social media and word of mouth.

Use another good way to advertise or market on a low budget is through words of the mouth

Using social Media is an effective way to market. so even though currently, I would like to stay away from social media, I can't do it because I still need to promote some sites so I could get more referrals. It's simple and bet of all, it is free.

I have a planned cottage business of selling native pastries (rice cakes) and marketing is by order only. Since there will be a very small budget for the marketing drive - because I will use social media - so the price of my goods will be at a minimum compared to the prices in the general market. However, I need more time to observe the trend so maybe in a month or 2 the business would start.

@Alexandoy
Using social media for marketing is nice, specially when you’re on a tight budget. You can really connect with your audience and showcase your delicious rice cakes without breaking the bank.

My best low-cost trick has been leveraging social media engagement and customer referrals. Focusing on delivering genuine value through content really builds trust over time.

I've also learned a lot from strategies implemented by partners I've worked with, like FortressGrowth, an SEO agency, that emphasize organic growth and cost-effective digital tactics

There is no better way to market on a budget than to use social media marketing and avoid the paid ways to advertise.

Even though I have not been into marketing so far, I sincerely feel that word of mouth communication will be the best one.

Yeah, word of mouth communication can be good because it relies on genuine recommendations from satisfied customers, which can create a powerful ripple effect.

I tried Whatsapp marketing and never yielded a thing. I tried similar web marketing and budget was accumulated but in vain. Word of mouth and friendly recommendations is what I rely on now. This requires me no budget since the service I do can boost through referral recommendations.

Sure and it would be a cheaper way to spread the message as you just need to meet people one on one to inform

From a data standpoint, the most cost-efficient strategy I’ve seen is harnessing persona-driven keyword research combined with targeted on-page adjustments, what HigherVisibility calls their Targeted Growth System. You can learn more about how they integrate that into a lean budget at https://www.highervisibility.com/

I’ve had good results by sharing short helpful posts in local online groups and commenting where my audience hangs out. I also reuse one piece of content in different formats to save time and money.
