Game Developers: Their responsibility to players

Postby thisnthat » 12 Aug 2015, 21:11

Do you think game developers have a certain amount of responsibility toward their players? Mainly, things like explaining why core features are being removed? Is it necessary for game devs to have good communication with the player base?

I think developers should respect the consumers and listen the consumers. Its better build a good reputation than a bad one.
And yes, its always good if developers go to the forums..twitter...etc... and interact with the consumers, with the players.
For example, when Flying Wild Hog released Shadow Warrior in the PC a developer gonne to the steam forums and create topics if people are liking the game , what the players think should be changed , etc . The same developer check the forum sometimes , interact with the players and fix some problems that players may have.

i think its a shame that CAPCOM doesn't give a sh*t about their consumers.... i'm still sad with the cancelation of Megaman Legends 3... a game that i waited for so long... and they even blame the consumers... they just killed their character... why CAPCOM? why put our beloved blue bomber in a coffin?

they should listen to people... like this devs Braids mencioned...

Well, I get that game developers can't always give every player everything he or she wants, but yes, I do think they should listen to the player base. I think the occasional acknowledgment helps players to feel that they are appreciated by the devs and not just another dollar sign $$$$. Video games are very lucrative, but they'd be nothing without their players.
