NotebookLM AI can produce voices that sound indistinguishable from real humans, and clips were made to showcase this where two artificial podcast hosts would discuss any article you fed into the AI. Then a researcher, Olivia Moore, gave the AI an article which explained that they weren't real. The hosts respond by apparently having an existential crisis.

It wasn'treal personalities that were actually created and really experienced this, but it does make for a cool ghost story. This link has a clip of them talking about it.

I couldn't get over the fact how these AI sounded so real, and how shaken they were to realise they didn't exist. It's a compelling example of how AI can inspire both curiosity and critical reflection on its role in our lives.
