That is why I do not go for Whites in many cases. I prefer Silver or Grey. Even in the case of cars.
Yet there would be many (as in the case of cars) who prefer White color.

Ordinary painting won't work. We need a thing called Electrostatic painting. I don't think someone will spend money on painting.

What about white clothes? Any small blemish gets much highlighted in them too.

White clothes can at least get bleached

Fair enough. I've always just bought the whitegoods (that's what they're called here, because it's so common for them to be white) that were the best value and suited my needs at the time, so usually there isn't a choice of colours, but I would probably choose another colour if it's an option.

My current fridge is is stainless steel on the outside, which is easy to clean (I just wipe it over now and then with some WD40). My washing machine and dryer are white though. I don't really mind if they get discoloured because they're in a room where nobody sees them much.

Not sure about appliances but here, I see many people having a preference for White Cars.

White Washing Machines are not that much popular but most of the ACs are white.
Microwaves are in dark blue or black or Dark Grey.

Are there white TVs? I've never seen one.

You can wash your microwave. Not like, dunk it in water, but you can clean the inside and outside of it (apart from where the power cord is) with a cloth and hot soapy water.
