My smartphone is behaving weird, do I need to get a new one?

Postby kat82 » 07 Jun 2025, 05:16

Inside the house network will be unstable and people calling will be told the user is currently off. Outside the network bars will be on and offline and I will get people calling but many calls will be dropped. This just started happening. What is your recommendation?

Have you tried reaching out to your service provider? First turn off your phone and put it back on, or you turn off your phone, remove the sim card and put it back on. If the issue still persist call your service provider and complain to them.

It seems that most portable electronic devices are intentionally designed to fail to force a continual upgrade and purchase of new replacements. Thing is, the programming seems to force the item to fail immediately after you have finally paid it off and the warranty has expired. It is usually fine until that point. They are telling you it is time to go spend more money on a replacement. Part of corporate greed.

I finally received a notice with my latest phone bill that I had paid off my phone. It has now been 2 years. They immediately presented me with a series of ads about new phones. My phone has been having issues for the past few days. Part of the cycle.

Yes every smartphone has a lifespan, once you use it for that time frame you will stop getting system updates and the phone would no longer function like it used to.

You have a point in this. I was also wondering why this happened when I had fully paid up phone. Even those people had offered to give me an upgraded version claiming how it was 5g and very faster. I declined and within a weeks time, this is what I am going through.

It all looks like the providers determine the lifespan of their devices. Real cheating.
