A new option on WhatsApp

Postby mrki444 » 15 Aug 2025, 11:20

The WhatsApp app, one of the most popular messaging apps, is testing a new feature. The new feature would allow sending a message to a contact without the app. It is enough to have only a phone number and you will be able to send someone a message from WhatsApp. A person without the application will receive a link to start a private chat and correspondence.

Wow, i thought you could only send them a link to download the app, so the contact can chat with you without downloading the app?

They test this option so far but it is likely it will come worldwide in next few months. It is part of new big upgrade.

Did you disable adding you into groups without permission in WhatsApp?

This would really be nice and would give whatsapp an advantage over other chatting platforms.

This is something that I will love to use myself. Yes for as long as the contact is able to read, that will be super fine.

But would this work for small phones too as does it have to be a phone that can access the Internet?

Size is not important but mobile phone must have Internet access. Whatsapp can't work without it.

I agree that this opens the door for scams and spam messages, as people could receive unsolicited messages or phishing attempts more easily.

That's good... WhatsApp needs a bit of a competition  I like that "the new feature would allow messages to be sent without the app". I know WhasApp is always changing and improving but it's nice to have various options. Whatever happened to Telegram?

Let's hope the recipient won't be charged for the text message. Different carriers have different ways they charge. Can't wait to test this.

WhatsApp's new feature is very cool, but it could open the door to scams and spam. If you can send a message to someone without the app, it means anyone with your number can send you a link—and not every link is safe. Bad guys can use it to spread malware or start fraudulent conversations. So, WhatsApp should put in place strict filters and verification to protect users. Technology is cool, but security is more important. Let's be careful who sends what, bro. A link is not always a friend!

Exactly. Strong filters and security checks is important, otherwise, it could cause more problems than benefits.

Those who use it more can even take advantage of marketing and spam.
