How do you watch TV?

Postby Sam » 24 Feb 2016, 23:27

In New Zealand nearly half of all households are Sky subscribers (like Cable but it's satellite premium tv). The base price is ~$50 NZD/ month. Being a student, we do not subscribe to sky but instead have Netflix (and at the moment a 6 month trial of Neon). Netflix is ~$13/mo and using it along with the free TV on Demand services is excellent. Neon would be ~$20/mo and is Sky's VOD service which includes Game of Thrones. Neon is both more expensive and comparatively worse (no HD, less content) than Netflix. We have both Chromecast and Apple TV to watch VOD with.

I have cable TV and have it bundled with internet and phone but it is very expensive and I hate that it costs so much. I also have Netflix and I love it. It has a good variety of shows and movies to watch. Our cable service has on demand options but I really do not use it. I really do not watch that much TV and when I do I am usually doing something else as well.

We have cable, but I tend to watch Netflix more. I find that although there are hundreds of TV channels, there's never anything good on TV. It's been overtaken by reality shows and the like.

I cut the cable years ago, so now I use a digital antenna for free, NetFlix for $6.95, I have a ROKU box and an Andriod box with lots of free channels and I can get more over the Internet for free.

We have a cable subscription for our TV movie and public affairs and news. However, we have a limited number of channels to select from. Nevertheless, we have something to watch for our day-to-day entertainment, news and information matters.

I mainly watch TV on the internet. I have Netflix and also a few streaming sites that I frequent. I don't have a TV at home so subscribing to a cable isn't an option for me. (not that I would anyway, it's so expensive)

I have a cable subscrition, but as I don't see it very often and my husband only watch some series, the ones who use it must are my kids. Because of this we are thinking about giving up of the cable and use netflix, I read that it has a lot of contents for kids and very nice series ... and we can save some money too ;)

I have had Netflix for many years and what you read is very true. The only other step I would suggest is to get an antenna for local news. You never can tell when you will want to keep up with something even if you don't watch it all the time.

I have had very few failures and they were able to be fixed in a few minutes, but to be fair I need to add that I live in the United States. I am not sure what you will experience, but you might try to find a few neighbors that use it.

I have read many people are subscribing to Netflix, I thought it's only for those who are in United States.

I haven't been watching TV for a few years. We removed the TV from our home since my children were born, as we do not allow the young children to watch TV. We used to have a satellite TV subscription.

Li Although the direction of most of the TV channels to provide applications allow users to watch the channel on smart devices , but the large number of applications and the transition from one application to another not be considered in practical ways.

I have cable TV which in my country costs about €50 / month. I only subscribe it because otherwise I would be able to have internet where I live, we need to have both services TV and Internet. Most of the series I watch on internet and I only use TV to watch the news, sports or sometimes a movie, lets say I use my cable TV only 1 hour / day.

We got rid of our cable because it's ridiculously expensive here. While we've been without it, we've been watching a lot of stuff online, but that can be rubbish for football. Today we're begrudgingly going back to cable, in part because we really miss Sky/BBC news. We feel like we've been out of the loop for too long. The good thing is we're not tied into a contract, we can dip in and out of it as we like.

I have my Internet, Phone, and TV Cable all bundled together because I receive HD TV Channels.

It is expensive. Around $177/month.

However, 2 desktops, 2 laptops, 2 IPADS, 1 Kindle, and 1 IPhone and 1 T.V. and all are networked together.

It's something I enjoying doing so I guess I will stay like I am .

The problem is kids will be kids and if they go to school they will hear about TV every day. I would rather have one in my home where I can see what they are watching than have them sneak around with friends to see stuff I would rather not have them introduced to.
