Do You Ever Google Your Name

Postby oldfriend » 26 Feb 2016, 14:16

At least once a week I will Google my name.

This is a good way to find out if your web sites and opportunities are being looked at.

Another good way is to blog and link back to your web site in the blog or comment.

How do you measure your success in Net-Working?

I Google my name and user name often, because I want to know what other people are going to see if they do it.

I used to do it when I was freelancing full time. I wanted to see where my articles were ranking and what people were saying (if anything). Now, not so much.

Thank you for sharing this tip with me. As we are setting up our website for business soon, this will be helpful to us.

I did google my username before, not for business purpose, just to check it out only.

I don't do it all the time. I used to google my artists name when I was selling music on the internet. But I have googled my work online username. Nothing too interesting comes up.

Do you mean all the sites that try to sell your info to people? Do you mean stuff like your FB page and online work and stuff?

I find my past work, and then a bunch of background search type sites trying to sell my info and some genealogy sites trying to sell me stuff.

I used to, but I don't remember the last time I did it. It really scared me that some of the information that came up was very, very personal, and that doesn't sit well with me at all.

@thinsthat that sounds truly awful! It appears we're no longer safe, especially with the amount of online work we do, giving out all the information we give out!

Yes, I have a lots of results, specially for the internet name I was using for years. I joined in with lots of sites so it is normal, I still don't get much results for this one as I only use it for online writing pages.

If you want accurate results, open a incognito window in your browser and Google you name in Quotes. Just be aware, you may find some real garbage being spread bout you. I just did it and had over 4,000 listed with the top one a ScamBusters Report that has been there for years.

I usually google my name, my blog to find them out on how they appear on google search. I am a bit satisfied for they appear on the first page of the search . When I google my name, all of my blogs are listed in the search results.

Just some jerk that thought it would be funny to write a degrading report, but fortunately he did such a poor job no one with half a brain would consider it.

That is a good idea and I am sorry to say it never occurred to me. I should do that and see what comes up. It would be smart to find out where you are at on Google to see what other things you may have to do in order to drive more traffic to your site.
