What unanimous silence!
Does this mean that, save for fergal, all other forumcoiners are IT novices?

Are you studying full time in college or some other way? What programming languages are you learning?
Fergal wrote:Good for you shamzblueworld, good luck with it and I hope you are enjoying it.

We' learnt C and now learning C++ and OOP, I'm in 2nd semester. 6 to go after this.

Ah, this is nostalgic. Hearing about course curriculum for IT studentsI also started with C/C++ and then the next sem I learned Java and VB. I loved VB but when I applied for work, the company I used to work for required a re-training program to learn Cobol
So I had to forget about OOP and go to natural-based programming language.

Cobol? I learned that when I was in college, for only one semester, but never used it at work. I don't think I like it. I prefer Java, VB and C.
Same as @naruto100, I am also a C# .NET programmer. Since I am a freelancer now, besides developing web applications, I also create simple websites for clients, and not limited to C# or .NET too.
I used to be a software tester as my first job. I remember we were going to use Rational Rose as the testing tool, but we were just using manual testing. Though I enjoyed testing, I still preferred programming, hence I quit.

Do you get your clients through freelancing sites or through other methods?
cessy_08 wrote:Yeah, at the time I was in College, Cobol was no longer part of the curriculum but the company I applied for uses this for the application. The product still has some pre-built modules in Cobol but we upgraded to Java a couple of years ago
To be honest, I am not in tune with programming anymore. I just write solution designs. I think the most programming I have done in the past years would be SQL queries

Good that it's finally upgraded to Java, it might be easier for everyone. I wonder if there are still people developing products using Cobol.
