Since I began using an internet-connected computer more than 10 years ago, I've always used kaspersky for my internet security needs.

Earlier, I used to have Quickheal but now I have switched to Kaspersky, cheaper than Quickheal but works just as fine.

I use Bitdefender free because it is a light antivirus and very good one. Before I used Avira which is also good but it seems they are now selling users data to make money.

My antivirus is AVG like you but I dont like how it keeps telling me to get AVG tuneup, pretty annoying but still a good anti virus. :D

I use Linux instead of Windows, so I don't need one!

I have tried many but have finally settled with Bitdefender which seems to do the trick and is light so doesn't slow my computer down. I run Malwarebytes every 1-2 weeks and Superantispyware on occasions.

I used Avast, free version, on my old Window laptop for years. It works just fine and it doesn't slow down my computer. I tried AVG, but it seems to bog down the speed of my computer so I switched back to Avast.

I've been using Avira. It's free and runs flawlessly on both my Win 7 PC and Macbook. Haven't had any problems with them and it has actually caught some things before they messed something up on my old PC. I've seen some people say it slows down their computers when running a scan, but I haven't run into any problems like that when running any scans. Might just be my internet though. It's slow regardless so if there was a slight dip in loading speeds, it wouldn't really affect my already slow loading times.

If you look closer I think you will find that MacAfee anitvirus comes as a free TRIAL with your laptop. You will need to pay to keep using it after the trial.

I'm actually surprised there aren't any viruses that go after Linux yet! Or maybe I don't entirely understand what separates Linux from Windows and Mac, other than being a different and less common operating system.

Linux is such a small percentage of the market share that it probably wouldn't be economically gainful to make viruses for Linux. There are also many, many different versions of Linux, making it even more difficult and less gainful to make viruses for Linux users.

Linux is more security through obscurity rather than actually being more secure. I imagine that if Linux was as well used on PC's as Windows, it would be targeted just as much as Windows, if not more.

One of the biggest reasons Linux is more secure is the normal user does NOT have root level permissions like Windows allows. If Windows users stumble on a virus or spyware link and click it, the Operating System is free to load software onto your computer where Linux would not allow such activity. Windows 10 has improved on this, but it's not there yet.

But the real test is using it for the work we actually do as Internet Marketers. I have used Linux for my work over 5 years and never had a problem, but have lost a couple of Windows systems to malware before I changed.

What about Chrome OS? I know it's Linux based, but is it currently commonly used enough that it could be susceptible to malware?

All you can do is try it and see if it suits your needs.
