CCTV at home

Postby germainebull » 25 Nov 2016, 03:36

Recently, there have been media reports of house girls assaulting and abusing children who are left in their care. Pundits have thus advised parents to install CCTV in their homes.
Have you installed CCTV in your home for whatever reason?

I do have a webcam I can access remotely if I want to check on my computer room while away.

So far that necessity has not arisen for me.

Very good. But I think you can very well lock your computer with a password. Is it not?

We have one inside the living room and two aimed at the front door. My brother installed them not for security reasons I guess he misses us and FaceTime is not enough for him who lives half way around the world.

Okay it's crazy to hear about how nanny's are mistreating young kids in homes to the extend of making the parents install cctv cameras in their homes just to track the nanny's and what they are up to. Well I have not installed any in my home yet but you never know maybe I will some day for fear of abuse and burglary

I'd love to, but have never done it because it's very expensive. That's why I always choose to live on housing estates with 24/7 security at the gate, and for now it'll have to do because I can't afford CCTV.

I bought my camera on Ebay for $11.

A password is not an entirely foolproof security for your computer. A thief could easily have the password overridden.

I really wanted to install a cctv camera outside our home, facing the neighbor, to track down if it is really my cat leaving a poop in their house  but it cost too much. I rather use the money for my medicine.

Yes. I guess it is less costly to collect the cat poop from your neighbor's house.

Wait a minute, doesn't your neighbor keep a cat?

I'm sorry that you have to take medicine. Get well soon.

CCTV gear is not that expensive. In my city, there are several companies that are providing the equipment and installing the same at a cost of $200.

To install CCTV at your home, you need a reliable power supply. You do not want to miss any clip due to power outages.

I prefer the webcam like Xiaomi brand, but I still don't know how to utilize it...installing a CCTV is very expensive here and have to be done by certain company.

In my city, you can get a CCTV system installed at your premises for as little as $200. I don't think this is a high cost to pay for my security.

I have not yet installed CCTV at my home. I may however consider installing this to monitor various activities that go on here remotely.

This would be a sensible move. Just imagine the benefits you would derive from observing your workers remotely, for example! CCTV is the way to go!
