PC hacking

Postby mildredtabitha » 02 Sep 2017, 16:48

I saw a movie called The Signal where an alien would hack the computer system at school and home. It came to my imagination that my PC might be vulnerable to hacking. My brother also told me that someone could hack your laptop and see you through your laptop's front camera. Are there ways to secure your PC from hackers?

The one way I know that you can protect your PC and even smartphone is by avoiding public Wi-Fi and also turning off your Bluetooth signal. Most hackers use them to hack your device. I would like to know if there are other ways to protect your devices from getting hacked.

If one is using a laptop with no webcam, I think that would be impossible to see them through the front camera.

As for other ways of protection, I would also keep my eyes fixed on this thread to read comments since I'm also lacking the actual information you are looking for.

There are many ways to protect your PC from hacking but there are also several ways to break that protection. It's is impossible to have a 100% safe environment when your PC is connected to internet. Of course there are some measures you can take to avoid being hacked like having a firewall, an anti virus, using a VPN, bein careful with emails from senders you don't know, etc.

This is an important point to note. Refrain from opening attachments from email contacts, even those you are familiar with. You never know, they (email contacts) could also have fallen victims to hacking.

I think that hackers can hack your computer even if you protect yourself strong enought ,there is no antivirus which will help you from some kind of professional hacker if you are target.

It would have been something nice if these hacker would have used their skills to build a strong antivirus, but they would rather do the opposite.

Lol. you are right. They should use that knowledge and skills to create ways to permanently protect PC and not hack it. I wonder what they gain from hacking computers and smartphones.

well movies kind of show that it is possible. I also would like to learn something from here because of what I've learned back then just like most of us is that they can try to take a peek at our webcam or access private informations or something. In our country, lots of bank accounts are hacked just by someone clicking something on the e-mail. I believe registering on sites that aren't secured can also lead to you be hacked.

you are also right. I think most people register on sites without knowing if it is secured because most people do not know the difference between a site that is secured and the one that is not.

Use wireless or always stand with bluetooth 'on' is a bit dangerous. Anyway, just connecting your device on internet also is. Any web system can get a bit of informations of your device just if you access them.

'cause it's more satisfying hacking that protecting :D
I'm student of TI and to find gaps in systems is more interesting, I don't usually do that, but, it's like you catch a point in a system that even the developer suppose to. Protect a system is a slow and meticulous development and not so satisfying, since your work just prevent to possible attacks.

Lol. @mladislau Now I understand why hackers keep on hacking. Coz it is fun. But they shouldn't be causing damage to someone's privacy like stealing money after hacking a bank. hehe

:D At the bolded part, I'm sure it's part of the fun they enjoy doing. It's just like a hobby to them, and you know, anything you enjoying doing, sometimes you don't really mind what people are saying about you. :)

You are right because if we mind what people say, then we won't enjoy doing.

Sorry about that. It might be you really got hacked or gmail is asking for more security questions before allowing you to access your account.

About Facebook, did you click any links the last time you accessed your account?
