Do you tell people about your online writing?

Postby sprite1950 » 04 Feb 2021, 07:57

It occurred to me that if anything happened to me and I died suddenly no one would be able to get into my online sites so I would just disappear. Then it got me thinking, would anyone care? Would they even notice because people come and go here all the time.

Do any of your friends and family know about your online sites? There was a lady named Patsy on MyLot who was writing into her 90s and in the end she went into a home but she had a son who kept us updated. For most of us that wouldn't happen.

I do not tell to my friends that I created a book that contains random fun facts on Wattpad. I'm proud that I made it but I am not looking for additional views. I just created it to share knowledge and enhance my writing skills. Unexpectedly, a lot of people viewed it. But probably, in the future, if I am hired to be an article writer here, I might share my article so I might garner more views and easily earn.

Yes, the people close to me (physical world) know about my online activities. At least two of them would be able to update my online friends should I no longer be able to continue online.

No. People don't think they can earn there or think money should be much better.
You can get much better money but you need more skills and knowledge.

You make a very good point, @sprite1950 - and it really broke my heart. My family does know I work online/remotely but nothing more. My husband knows I post on forums, work on Fiverr and teach remotely but not the specifics. So I guess I'd also disappear into thin air and none of my communities would be any the wiser, sadly.

ForumCoin is a small enough community for us to notice people who are active on the forum. Myself and CyberFreak have noticed before when you were inactive for a little while. Obviously getting to know people online isn't the same as offline, but we still do get to know them. We all have people we are particularly fond of online, as we get to know them, their interests and personalities. You would most definitely be missed sprite1950, if you stopped being active. Lucky for all of us, you are young and fit and healthy.

I remember Patsy, she had a very bad eyesight and her threads and comments were a challenge, but she was a sweet old lady.
My husband knows some of my earning sites but maybe I should do a list and inform him and my kids where it is.
I would notice if you disappear and believe I would be worried ;)

I have told my mum, sisters and brothers about my online writing. But none of them can access any of the sites that I work in. Maybe when I grow old, I will also give access to them to my child like Patsy did.

Yes i tell people about my online sites because i would want someone else to also benefit in one way or another if they are interested. Why would i keep it to myself anyway, like the saying goes sharing is caring right?

I had told a few people about mylot a long time back. Now I am hardly in contact with them.
A few real life people know me from WhatsApp and know that I am on Forumcoin.
Else most of my offline friends are not aware of my being here.

My daughters and husband know that I am writing online but they do not know much details about it and do not bother to know. I do not talk to anyone unless some one mentions about it.

I have told friends about my online writing and proudly telling them of some amount I earn but I will never tell them what sites. Why? this is my secret haven where I can freely express my ideas and opinions. I want that people who will interact with me are interacting with the thought of my write ups and not me as the person.

There was a time when I used to tell people about my online writing job when I used to write for content mills. However, right now I no longer discuss that with people. I mind my own business and also allow people to mind their own business.
