Are you influenced by the member's avatar?

Postby blair » 30 Jun 2015, 08:51

Do you tend to form your judgement base on a forum member's avatar? Let us say if they use a friendly looking photo or something that is weird or creepy, do you get influenced by their choice of avatar when it comes to determining if they are believable or not?

In "real life" we always tend to judge people by appearance. here is no different, but it is much more difficult ... I use a photo of my favorite game (The Last of Us). How do you think I am? lolol ;)

No definitely not. I am influenced by the posts a member writes .. there is a lot you can tell about a person from what they write. Take nela13 for instance, she doesn't have an avatar but I like and respect her. I might recognise a person by their avatar but it won't make me form an opinion of them on its own.

"Don't judge a book by its cover." You need to be very objective when forming opinions, so don't just jump to conclusions right away.

Thank you so much dear, I feel the same about you. I don't judge anyone by the way people look. When I was in the university we were once required to do a pair work and I decided to do with a friend that has a lot of tatoos and piercings and my colleagues didn't want to do the work with him as they thought he wasn't capable, but at the end we had the best grade of the all class. He is a great friend even nowadays.

Avatars can be nice. Some of them actually have motion or the characters move. I am not influenced by a member's avatar. I often wonder where some of the avatars come from?

I've just changed my avatar today. Yes, I think member's avatar can affect others the way they think of the member. Although, this can be fake and we know that everyone here doesn't want to put their real picture here because it can be used on other sites. Like we can have avatars that range from super cute ones to NSFW avatars.

Avatar doesn't influence me. Actually I don't give attention on to it. I don't care how someone's avatar looks. What matters me is the reputation points.

Not really although an attractive avatar looks better than a complicated one. I don't think an avatar makes any difference on my opinion whether the avatar is attractive or otherwise!

I was not influence by a member in this site but it is because of the FC reward that I will be receiving for having an avatar at my profile.

Yes, I think most of us are influenced by an Avatar of a member! A pleasant Avatar always attracts and creates positive feeling and happy environment! Thanks!
