Re: Do You Ever Google Your Name

I did. And most of the result found on Facebook. So, that moment, I went to Facebook and made my profile more private because I can literally see my sensitive information since it was public profile.

Yes and I seen some embarrassing spring break pictures. I have a feeling those pictures are the reason why I didn't pass some job applications even though I aced the interviews.

Yeah, sometimes since I am a poetry writer. I google my name from time to time, might my name become popular online because of my works.

and here I was, feeling all left out! That must have been why I was so reluctant to get a fb profile  ~ I didn't have one till recently!

It's a good thing to keep some things private, but I think that, most likely, the people who actually look you up like that are more stalker than normal. I mean, your private life is private, and it should stay like that. At work you have to be professional and that should be it....a lot of the time the people who criticise your personal life from 'morally higher grounds' are some of the lowest of the low.

I did google myself before but there was really nothing there to show. It only showed my social accounts and some similar names.

Yes. I not only Google my real name but I Google my user name. The only thing I am not happy about it is the fact that in the search results I can find my name, along with the names of my husband all of my children. I don't really see WHY that kind of information about my “family tree” should be available to the public. I also don't see WHY I need to contact the company or persons that put the information out there and tell them or even pay them to remove it! I never gave them permission to publish that kind of information about me.

Anyway! Just wanted to shout that out! Moving on.

I did when I was in our school's computer lab. My friends and I arw joking around and searched our names on it. A lot of people are showed and there is a picture of me. I think it was the one that I uploaded in my social media account.

Whatever you shared online which is public is going to be crawled out by bots and will be put on those search engines. So, we do need to check our names from time to time to prevent the information be used in others.

I used to do it when I had shop online just to check in which page my site showed up, indeed this gives you an idea of your website's ranking and how easy costumers will find you but this has also to do with meta tags on your website, they are very important for your business to be found.
