I never add people on Facebook unless I know who they are. I wouldn't want people who are complete strangers to have access to all the information on my Facebook account. Scary. O_O

I ignore friend requests from strangers, sometimes even from people I know. I like to keep my social networks with people with whom I have something in common and sometimes there are people you know that are just acquaintances and nothing more than that. This way I avoid ending up with a couple of hundred names on my friends list.

I am on facebook for 9 years but have less than 400 friends means I do not want to each and everyone that comes in my contact but I add only those who, I feel will be good for me and my job related purpose.

I friend strangers because how can they be your friends if you don't get to know them.

Hmm, I used to do it before when I was single and most of them are not complete strangers but people I met on a night out, exchanged numbers, and social media accounts. But not close to be categorized as friends, either. But now, I don't just add anybody. I make sure I have met them a few times and I can at least consider them as an acquaintance before adding them.

I know what you mean about adding "friends of friends". It is very odd! One of my blogging friends added almost all my family members on her Facebook account, and went I saw it, I was like "what the heck"? My X too, added some of my nephews and nieces, and cousins in his account.

With this, I don't think people really care about who they add or how inappropriate it is! It is just plain weird!

Same here. I feel really odd when some of my husband's schoolmates or friends would add me in Facebook even if I haven't met them personally yet!

This is how I feel and that is only adding people who have something in common with me, whether it was from a writing site or from photo site or from personal selling site and blogging site. At least I know we have a common ground. I just hate seeing everyone feed on my page. Luckily, I now know how to turn those annoying updates off.

Yes, given that I've installed a robust Internet Security program, I add random strangers as friends on Facebook.

Who knows, I may need to market to these wide audience at some time.
