I download AVAST for free from the internet, free for one year, if not mistaken.

I still swear by Kaspersky. It works well. There is a free version, but you can also usually find really good deals on the paid version from time to time (especially around the holidays). I do use Malwarbytes alongside it as well.

This is good news. If the free trial version of indeed AVAST lasts for a whole uninterrupted year, I should install it on one of my idle desktops.

I used Avast for at least 10 years and never paid anything, just renew it once a year.

I have Kaspersky. tI keeps me company while I am online. It is effective but slows down my work a bit which I do not mind.

I am using the built-in virus protection of MS which is Defender and Anti-Malware, the premium version and it is free. It removes the adware, spyware, among others. It could work well when the computer is set to safe mode.

I use Avast for every device that I have and it's always been up to the task. I haven't got a trojan on my PC for a few years now.

I also use Linux for many years. You have more then 100 distributions, you can pick any one of them, most of them are free.
Much better solution, no problem with virus
Its only problem if you play video games, lots of games dont work on Linux.

At the moment I usewind 8.1 and dont use antivirus.
Just careful about sites that I am using.

I still swear by Linux, but lately I discovered a program called BleachBit (2 versions for both normal and root access) to clean up junk files and make it run faster. It makes a huge difference for me.
