Re: Teachers use digital boards?

Postby Ldynjeans » 12 Dec 2016, 19:16

We had chalk boards and dry erase marker boards, but kids now have chromebooks and digital everything! My parents bought my daughter a chromebook for her birthday so she could easily do her homework and log on to her school work sites from home.

Schools in my area have started to use digital equipment and instead of writing on the board or using chalkboard they have started using modern technology and made things easier in schools which is amazing for the children as well. In the news, it has been said some schools want parents to buy Laptops for their children and this is so that they can learn easier and keep up. I just hope children do get taught to write using fingers as they would need to have that skill when filling out forms and also will be satisfying when using fingers to write down words.

I guess this demand is unfair; if a parent is unable to purchase a laptop for him/herself, how would he buy a laptop for a child?

Mechanical parts and diagrams can be show easily so the students can understand the consept easily and it will help the student and the university.

I doubt if it is really easy to set up a digital board in a classroom.
But, digital boards make it easy for students to grasp abstract concepts.

Same as myself. My teachers used to use chalkboards. They still do to date.

Digital boards are not only useful at university level. Even early childhood classrooms have found them useful in explicating concepts to young learners.

Of course we had black boards when I was in primary school. I don't see any difference whether black boards, white boards, green boards, overhead projectors, digital boards, iPads ... if the teacher is not a good teacher. A good teacher can teach student no matter what kind of tools and resources they have.

Some other schools use digital board already most especially in private school. Students rather want high-tech teaching than the old-fashioned way of teaching. Surveys say kids want new technology way of teaching so they won't get bored on their classes.

It takes more time for our school to use digital board in teaching. Some schools are already using computers in teaching their students, projectors and the like. But as I have said it is a remote possibility to have a digital board for our country or the Department of Education is still planning to computerized the education system.

Digital boards are not bad some situations, but some other they can't be used and you need standard white or green board.

I agree with your opinion. If it's an effective teaching tool and the students are learning, what more do you want?

In my school in the past, we used SmartBoards, which are interactive digital boards, and pens, in which you can write on the board. Every classroom has a chalkboard, but no-one uses it now. :D

I've seen digital boards in some tutorial videos. And I would say that this is often used in universities nowadays in US, UK or even business. I've seen it mostly used in math-related subjects.
