Yes, several times. Mostly, I made an email for a service, that now, I don't really use, and I forgot the email. Because I'm wary of spam flooding my inbox when I sign up for things. But now, I've become smarter, because I just use 2 emails now. One for my work/personal. And the other for registration of items. And it has worked surprisingly well.

It has been quite a long time, but I used to manage our high school alumni association, and used an aol email address for the primary contact. Everyone just knew the address because I had used it for more than 20 years.

There was some kind of spam attack against aol, and they suddenly required everyone to change their password. I complied, but promptly forgot the new password. For whatever reason, no matter how I tried, they could not help me get back into that email address and I lost contact with nearly 20,000 members. It still amazes me that most members don't bother to read old content. I'd be happy to give 10 FC to the first member who actually reads this line and contacts me about it. That was when I changed servers and never looked back at AOL. Fortunately, I had all data saved, but many previous contacts did not believe my contact with a new email address was legitimate and refused to reply to the new email address. I had to spend thousands in postage to use snail mail to contact everyone about it.

You can still recover it by answering security questions. Try it, you might be able to recover your account.

That's true. When I created my first email back in 2004, I did not know how to recover in case I lost it. Well I actually lost it because I simply forgot the the login details.

I have had the same email address for the last 6 years with one platform. I have about 3 more with 2 more different platforms. I lost the passwords a few different times but I just did a few things to get them back. Other than that, no problem

i also have the same experience on my first email, I am thinking maybe they have set a rule that will automatically delete your account if you dont log in for a period of time.

Even I, i remember very well, I lost my yahoo address which was so dear to me. I forgot the password, security question and everything that could make me recover it. I ma not sure if they have deleted it or not.
