Thanks skysnap, I'm hoping to buy something with at least 16GB of RAM.

Thanks Doby, yes I can configure it to some extent, depending on where I buy from. Thanks for that, I do like that idea and may actually do that and get an external hard drive.

1038 Pounds if you get it in 16 GB Ram. Isn't it a little too expensive?
BTW do share when you actually buy one.

Fergal, would you buy an iMac or a Mac mini? They are not cheap but they are worth it. Also, if you buy an old model, you can add more RAM on your own, without even a Technician! It's very simple.

The price is in Euro, but yes it is expensive shamzblueworld, Ireland is an expensive country :( If you have suggestions for a better option I'd be delighted to hear them.

Yes, I will share the details when I buy one, thanks.

Thanks Doby, but as I said in earlier posts I will most probably be buying a PC for work reasons.

I can't check to see if it is cheaper on the site you linked to Fergal at the moment but it may be cheaper to buy a PC with a smaller amount of memory and a normal HDD for example and them upgrade both yourself and then keep the HDD and either use it as a second drive or get a external HDD case from Amazon or somewhere like that and use it as a external hard drive. That may actually work out cheaper as usually sites charge a premium for each upgrade above the cost of the part.

Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. I've actually placed an order for a Dell PC. I hadn't planned on buying just yet, but I had been looking at Dell's website and was leaning towards them, then I saw that they had a Black Friday offer and were offering a 12% discount, that ended yesterday, on the PC range I was considering. Having looked at the prices beforehand I could see that it was a real discount so decided to place the order. The PC has Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD and 2TB Hard Drive. Truth is it's breaking the bank a bit, but my current PC is so old and slow (2 GB RAM and Windows XP) that I feel justified in getting a high end one now. Looking forward to it's arrival. Thanks again everyone.

Time to put Linux on your old PC for some new life. I suggest PCLinuxOS with Mate desktop.
