Re: Which Smartphone Is Better? Huawei or Samsung?

Postby Lexi » 27 Dec 2016, 20:39

Samsung still has more advanced technology despite some phones catching on fire. It's more to do with the battery they say. I have had Samsung phones and tablets and all is well.

Everyone has to be more careful with charging devices these days as it can happen with nearly anything.

I mostly used filters with my Samsung because of the low quality of picture, but of course, it depends on the model of the phone.

You comprehensive review could cause me to reconsider my stance about Chinese products. I especially like the bit about the huawei battery that can reportedly last for 8 hours.

Older Samsung phones tend to become worse and worse after some time. That was the case with my older S Plus. It had a great start, but after 2 years it was almost done, battery wouldn't even last a day on basic use. The P8 lite's battery isn't all that great. You should check P9 or P9lite, I suggest.

All new phones' batteries last significantly greater. I can say that I agree with your statement that Huawei's batteries last longer, but you can't say that Samsung is far behind on this one. They still have some of the best batteries out there, with great fast chargers, but still won't beat P9's 2-day on intense use duration. I don't think there's any battery out there that can beat P9's 3000mAh battery (even S7 Edge with its 3600mAh).

Actually, getting some last-gen Huawei is more worth than getting an S7 Edge. P9 from Huawei and, soon, Mate9, are phone easily comparable to the S7 (not Edge, but still S7), that are almost HALF the price. You can get MUUUCH more quality/price ratio from Huawei than from Samsung. However, if you've got that much money to spend, go get the S7 Edge, because it's still the best phone around. But for a lower budget, P9 comes into competition.

Alas! You have such detailed knowledge about different phone attributes! Congrats!

Do you, by any chance work at a phone store?

No, I just enjoy looking for the newer models on the internet and think about my next (soon) phone.

Samsung is better overall, but Huawei is cheaper and does the job if you're not going to be using your phone a lot. If you're going to consider a brand from China, I'd recommend Xiaomi over Huawei. Their products are better, imo and the price is just as cheap (maybe even cheaper). I'd say Samsung over Xiaomi and Huawei, but Xiaomi over Huawei.

Only the Note 7 has been blowing up. None of the other models have this problem.

This is a useful comment. Since I'd be using a new smartphone frequently, I guess I'll have to purchase a Samsung product.

I have never owned both. I haven't touched any Huawei phones ever but i was able to try Samsung which isn't that bad. But a friend of mine is looking to buy Huawei P9 because of Leica camera. I've seen photo samples and it is good.

Thanks for making this clarification. It is necessary for people to desist from sensationalizing the incident of Samsung batteries blowing up. Objectivity is a virtue.

But if you are interested in an option that is cheaper than Samsung, but works almost as well, I'd recommend Xiaomi. Like I said, it's better than Huawei and cheaper than Samsung so it could be a good alternative for you.

My hubby just bought a new handphone yesterday. Most of the salespeople told us Samsung is a bit pricey as it's branded.
He bought Asus Zenfon 3 Max for instead due to it has 3G RAM, think could be run faster...if not mistaken.

Given that Huawei is a Chinese brand, I associate it with poor quality; China has a reputation of failing to follow due procedure. Samsung is thereby better than Huawei in my view.

I second your view. China has a dubious reputation of not been keen on due processes. I'd be hesitant to trust their phones.

Most people will probably answer Samsung and I also agree with this since it's a more well-known and trusted brand. There are a lot of cheap but good Samsung phones you can get right now, especially after the release of the Galaxy S7 Edge. You shouldn't replace your smartphone if you don't have any problems with it, that's what I always said to myself.

However samsung is pioneer in gadgets , so is Nokia, and I am using samsung now.
I like it when someone called me but I am busy, I don't have to press silence , just flip my smartphone facing down, and it auto silence the ringing tone

You are right. I don't see the need of purchasing a new smartphone if my current one is working okay. That is unless I belong to the millionaires class for whom money is never the problem.

I have just read some news articles that have caused me to being reevaluating my preference for Samsung products. These news articles have shown that Samsung is not very keen on vetting the parts (mostly batteries) that are shipped in by Chinese suppliers.
