Maybe Facebook doesn't pay because of greed.
Well, if we were rewarded for our activities, many people would flood the website with meaningless content in order to make some pennies. It happens on the platforms that pay, but as those are smaller communities, it's easier for the moderation to look after this abuse. Facebook would probably be a mess instead.
The rules for posting would be stricter too.
Lots of people post images they don't own, Facebook has to pay the servers, the hosts, the staff and probably fines for copyright infringement too.

From what I just wrote, I will say the reason Facebook is more popular is... FREEDOM. ;)
You can post as much as you want, share the stuff others made and so forth.
Having billions of users already is also helpful. :D

I don't understand why so many people are obsessed with Facebook - updating statuses, liking, commenting, posting pictures 24/7 - I'm sorry but I'm not interested in seeing what you ate for breakfast, where you got wasted or what you bought from the mall.. Yes, it's useful when you want to read some interesting articles, chatting with a friend who lives abroad /I prefer calling my friends instead of texting/, etc. But when you start obsessing and checking it every 5 minutes is like an addiction which hurts your real life.

Yes,you are right.I have seen many videos, that became very popular on Facebook.I know that Facebook is one of the most popular social platform online, but it was a surprise to me to see videos with even 1 000 000 viewers.I think the owner of the video earns very well from those videos.

I think there are a lot of major negative things on there as well as positive. For instance, on one hand, it's a good way to make money but on the other, it can jeopardize your security (offline and online). Anyway, I do use it somewhat to promote a forum - and the results have been great (but only because the owner boosts my posts with his own money, though).

Facebook is a great platform for marketing. I made my account because I started working online and I needed to share my content online, and it has proven to be great place for that.

Yes,this is true.Social media platform, like Facebook is a great place, where you can advertise your website or blog for free.Though it is more efficient if you have many friends and followers, who like your website or blog and it is not disturbing for them,if you are placing ads on your website.

Basically just for entertainment purposes. I mean you do kinda get addicted to it after some time... well isn't that the case with every social media platform  . People are now also earning from Facebook nowadays as there is an option of advertising and putting ads on your videos.
