Yeah, doing GPT sites, surveys, offers, and the like will get you bombarded with spam and scams. It's a good idea to set up a separate email account just for these things. A spam account to collect all this junk instead of filling up your regular email inbox. Also, report that email as spam to your email provider.

I'm glad you figured it out in time. Mouse over the sender. You'll see that it's an odd email address and not really Paypal or w/e most times. Also, if there's a question, always go straight to the source (in this case Paypal) instead of clicking any links.

That's why in Gmail we have spam filters. So you don't really need to create a new email account for that. Still, the best way to determine the phishing emails is the URL and golden rule is to never enter your sensitive information in a suspicious website such as your passwords.

I love gmail, but unfortunately, a lot of offers don't like it (probably because it does sort spam so well). Some of the other providers are much more lax in filtering. In fact, some will put the spam in my inbox and send stuff that I do want to the spam folder. It's all a bit hit and miss.

Agreed, I open a new window and either use my bookmark or type in the URL myself to go straight to the site in question.
