Re: Limit of believing information put out by bloggers

Link to an interesting article about the history of blogging.
https://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2011/03/a-brief-history-of-blogging/

Suffice it is to say that blogging means many things to many people. Some people are experts and their blog is so informative other people use it as a ready reference. Some people love to blog about their passion ... gardening, movies, etc. Some people have blogs on all kinds of randomness.

If a person does not say they are experts and show some credentials touting themselves as experts, I just assume they're not experts. I don't take their words as gospel truth. But I don't ignore them either. I cross-check.

I will use myself as an example. In real life and online I am an honest person and always will be. I want my blog to be a good source for people so I write based on my experiences and if something has not paid me yet, I let people know. I think it is important for bloggers to build trust with their audience no matter what the niche is. People want honest information and deserve that. Sadly though there is still tons of wrong information and false info being distributed out there online and off.

It's unfortunate how some bloggers tend to give false informations on their blogs just to drive traffic without minding what the harm it could cause.

This happens a lot of times. This is why I don't rely on one source to get my facts right. I do multiple search and research especially if the information I need is very important.

Thats right, you are better off doing what you just said. There is much competition in blogging now, and people can go extra miles to get what they want. So it's good to search multiple sources.

When I want to get information and facts. I do not go to the random blogs that appear while internet search, Instead I visit trusted sites like encyclopedia Britannica, webmd, mayo clinic etc.

if it is too good to be true, then probably it is. Everytime we see information on blogs and we doubt it, we should make effort to do a research for each article. Especially for social medias, where
there are a lot of click baits and fake news.

When I am looking for information, I will never go with a post from a random blogger. I will always check authority sites. I believe wikipedia is more trustworthy than the random blog posts.
