You never know until you try, but it may surprise you how easy it is to learn to enunciate each word clearly and slowly to make this work quite well, then you can edit the result.

I tried a few such apps but most of them typed a way different from what I spoke. Is it possible that my Indian accent is a problem.

Absolutely, but even with proofreading and editing it should still help.

Sounds to me like it would be good practice. It's possible other humans could have a hard time understanding you just as much as the voice recognition does.

I have an android phone and use the microphone to type all the time. Punctuation is easy as long as those words are not being used as part of your text. You have to stop and type it in if you actually want these words to display.

When you want to insert a comma, simply say the word "comma". When you want to end the sentence, simply say the appropriate word "Period" "Question Mark" "Exclamation Point" as needed. That sentence will end, and the next sentence will automatically begin with the Capital letter.

The letters on the keyboard are too small for my fat finger syndrome. I make a lot more mistakes when I try to type text on my mobile.

Usually, I just use my voice for the Google Assistant feature. It's helpful when on driving trips.

No, I haven't tried it so far, in fact, I wasn't even aware that such a feature existed in Android phones till I read your post. I shall surely try it, but I doubt whether it will work for me, since as you mentioned it recognizes only standard American accent.

I have tried it, but I can't say I liked it. As you have mentioned, you can't rely on it when it comes to punctuation and grammar. So probably it's good for SMS or taking down some short notes.

However, oftentimes I would use Google Assistant (Geesh Google has to assign a better name for that assistant), to make a call or update my calendar.

My son, who can barely write yet, would often use the voice search as swell instead of typing. :D

I tried it, but I definitely prefer typing. I don't speak English fluently and It's just faster when you type with your fingers.

Office365 from Microsoft now also have option for typing with voice in Word. I test it and it is not bad.

:D I have tried that and it wasn't really funny, because I will voice out a particular word and I will get a different thing entirely, it wasn't giving me what I expect. Especially with Google Assistant, it's very common.
