Re: Is San Junipero about to happen in real life?

Elon Musk is already funding this project, He is using Minecraft as framework. So the early uploads will look like minecraft characters but eventually models will have their ideal avatar.

There is also a company called Nectomy who offers the uploading for free but you will die because they will extract the brain.

Yeah that is what Nectome says. They want volunteers so the world they build will have citizens and neighbors for their first few clients. I will only fall for this once multiple successful uploads happen.

But I think we already are live in real in virtual life. To many people show them self as somebody else online and in real life they live complete different life. This was present especially in start. Now is little different since everything is personalized and we need pictures have everywhere.

Well we are not really virtual since we can easily die. Becoming a sentient digital avatar can make us live for almost eternity until some terrorist attacks the super computer where you are stored. They better choose a location that is not in the Pacific ring of fire.

I watched San Junipero when it came out and got some existential dread after the episode ended. I calmed down after a while and realised while we're definitely going in that direction we're probably not gonna live to see it.

I think that depends on how long we will live. Who knows maybe it possible after 50 years. I will be like 70 something by then. I do want Elon Musk's Upload project to succeed but I have to save money so by the time it happens I have money to afford it.

The concept really sounds interesting. Had never heard about San Junipero before. Also had never heard about this Russian Scientist who claims he can make this Virtual world come true in real life, wasn't aware either that Elon Musk is funding a consciousness upload technology. This concept of Digital Afterlife is really very innovative, but pity that only very rich and selected few will be able to benefit from it.

I will definitely choose this over being a cyborg, I think its a great way rich people can extend their life without causing an overpopulation. I think this technology will also make people less religious since they won't believe in Heaven and Hell anymore. The experiment was successfully done on a worm at this moment.

Elon Musk' after life project is Neuralink. He wanted to be the first upload when he dies.

He wanted to do this so he can witness Mars colonization as a virtual human.

I am trying my best to live long enough until this technology exists so I can go digital and have ripped body for eternity. I can eat Junk food everyday as a digital being without worrying about getting fat.

Well to become a digital upload you have to die though because they will extract your brain in order to be uploaded. I will definetly do it if i have a terminal disease so I can ascend into a new being.

I watched episodes of Black Mirror related to San Junipero and it is one of the best shows in series.

I did some research about this project and I find this company Nectome. Company is doing research in memory extraction and biomolecular preservation. Looks this guys are serious about idea of real San Junipero. I also find add how they already check some reservations with 10 000$ price and 25 people already sign up.

I just hope Elon Musk' Neuralink will be launched sooner than later. I want to be uploaded in a cloud.

Or just for elite or not for very long time. But still maybe it would be more accepted than Covid vaccine

Besides it looks awkward now, I believe that in the future that will be possible. What confuses me most is how they get into someone conscience and how it can be stored.

At this moment they succeed to upload the consciousness of a worm. They will slowly transition from animals before going for humans. Musk is now working to make this happen through Neuralink.
