I guess they would solve that problem investing in better electric grid and stronger chargers. But in those days life was much slower and you were not in hurry as now so I don't think longer charging was biggest issues for electric cars.

Elon Musk is working on this. May be we'll get a flexible charging system by 2030.

Looks amazing I would be interested in buying one and its good because you actually don't have to have a license for one.

I don't think so. You can't drive a car on streets if you don't have all permits. It is allowed only for special vehicles but in those case you must announce drive in police station and they must approve it.

If we don't have such laws, every DIY vehicle could be on streets.

This is Bersey electric cab, 1897, designed by Walter Bersey (General Manager of the London Electrical Cab Company).

If you were in London or New York around 1897. and you need cab, you would probably be driven in electric cab as on image above.

Every this taxi must meet conditons by Scotland Yard police and those are very similar for today.
1. each vehicle was accompanied by a driver
2. drivers were capable of stopping the carriage on demand
3. the taxi could turn in a small space
4. be able to climb the steepest hill in London, Savoy Hill
