Re: Windows 10

The immediate gripe about Windows 8 when it was released in October 2012 was that it worked best on tablets (and other touchscreen devices), but felt hobbled when used with traditional keyboard-and-mouse. So how does Windows 10, which Microsoft has been trying to make friendlier for desktops and notebooks, fare on tablets.

the interface is neat though i can't find any difference of it from windows 8 (appearance wise). I'm still using Windows 7 on our office and at home so I couldn't say if I'm excited to have this version on my PC since I'm pretty comfortable with my setting on w7.

I'm using Windows 8.1 now. But when I get my Windows 10, I'm definitely gonna install it instead of Windows 8.1. I really admire Windows 10 features :D

I like Windows 10 too, but there are some drawbacks that is making me hesitating to upgrade from Windows 8.1.

The first disadvantage is you have no rights to manually update your Windows unless you are using Windows 10 Pro ( Which you have to own a copy of either Windows 8/8.1 Pro or Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise. Windows have disabled the function in Windows 10 Home version to manually choose which update you want to install unless you are using Windows 10 Pro. That is great as user's don't need to spend time fiddling with updates, but if there is an update which permanently disables Windows that surfaced and left unfixed for 3 days. your computer will be left disabled for three days. For some user's they want to install the updates they want only, and this is taking their rights away.

The second disadvantage is Windows Media Center will not be available for Windows 10, you need to find another software to replace it, but be noted that Windows Media Player will still be there. This may be annoying for some user's because the removal of this software forces fans of Windows Media Center to find something else.

The third disadvantage is, Microsoft may or may not, make Windows an advertising platform. For example, Candy Crush Saga is default installed with any fresh copy of Windows 10. This may be just Microsoft's first step. I'm afraid of their future steps in advertising.

Sorry if I infringed anyone and sorry for the long post.

W8.1 is awesome, maybe even better than W7 although most people says that Windows 7 is faster, im getting even more fps with Windows 8 on games like CS:GO.

Unfortunately, I had to reinstall Windows 10 from my laptop because of inadequate disk space.

I guess I'll have to expand my laptop's memory or buy a new one.

I ran into the only objection I have with Windows 10 last night. I was clicking ads for Clixsense and it decided I needed an update, so it rebooted and took control of my computer for over an hour before it gave it back to me. Fortunately I had my 2 in 2 tablet handy, so it gave me something to do in the meantime. You would think they would ask before interrupting for that long and give me a choice to do it now or later.

A techie guy who comes to service my computer occasionally told me to stay away from Windows 10 as it is more vulnerable than the Windows 8.1 that I have installed on my computer. He says that many of his clients who upgraded to Windows 10 are regretting it because of many problems in the software. So I think it is not worth upgrading to Windows 10 which also does not have any extra features from other versions.

How do I qualify as a Windows 10 tester?

What are the minimum system requirements?

I'm hesitant to test/use Windows 10 because I gather it requires huge memory capacity.
I don't have such huge memory on my laptop.

Microsoft is giving me until the 29th day of July to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. I'm hesitant, though. Microsoft has gotten too invasive for comfort lately and I don't want to bother too much with unplanned updates. I missed a deadline on my gig once when Windows decided to give me a surprise 3 hour update-install.

Once i upgraded to windows 10 but i kept getting problems so i went back to windows 7, my requirements are all right, just that my desktop just goes slow and task manager shows 100% disk usage.
Windows 10 has some problems but Windows 7 is the best imo.
