I was thinking in term of human languages and which is the easiest to learn for human. It was not, lol..I have issue with Java and Flash, but I love HTML. Now that I am older, none of this interests me anymore.

HTML is the easiest one but its not a programming language, I think among the programming languages, Python is very easy.

You asked for C, Java and HTML? The answer is simple ... HTML is the easiest computer language anyone can learn. Just a note, HTML is a markup language and is not a programming language. As for programming language, PHP is beginner friendly. Python is also something beginner may want to consider.

I really dislike hard typed programming languages like C# and Java (especially object-oriented). However, I know it is an essential skills to stay relevant in the IT industry.

Approximately, how long would I take to learn Java if I dedicate 2 hours/day to this? Assume I am a complete novice.

I think Java would be the toughest to learn from all of the popular ones. But of course if you practice hard, you can learn it well in time. Maybe a month or two if you spend two hours every day.

You are right, HTML is not a programming language! I believe the below user correctly explained it. It is a markup language!

Html is the easiest programming language to learn in my opinion. Some people here advice Java but I disagree, I believe Java is much more complex although much more powerfully too. If I was a newbie in this matter I would start by html and then Java.

Poof!

From your title, I thought you were speaking of a literal language, say Chinese.

If this is not what you are referring to, I'm sorry; I'm a complete greenhorn in relation to monogramming/programming languages.

I see.

If I may ask, is there any advantage if I learn these languages in the order you've placed them?
That is, should I begin with java, then go to C, before progressing to C++?

I hear people say that Chinese is the easiest language to learn but I guess it all depends on the interest of someone if you have interest you can learn any language

On the contrary I have heard the Chines and Malayam languages are the toughest to learn. I think it is the French that one can learn easily because you get to hear similar sounding words.

If he is beginner, I feel one should start with C, followed by C++ and Java. C provides basics of all programming languages, though it's not used extensively in IT field nowadays.

Interesting.
I've also read that Python is easy to learn.
I don't know why this is the case.

Why do you consider Python to be easy to learn?

I always thought it was hard to learn programming so never ventured that way but I am now regretting the decision. At this moment, I feel that if I had tried, I could have at least mastered some basic languages! :(

Is there a reason why you can't start learning programming now? If you don't, do you think you might regret it again in a few years?

It is easy to learn because it is not a strongly typed language, you can type it loosely, its not like you'll miss a semi colon and the whole program crashes which is the case in languages like C++ and Java. That is why it is easy to learn and get into programming.

I guess I could but I have some time constraints since in addition to working online, I also work as a freelance translator, so my time is divided between online work, offline work and my son's routine! And I think learning programming will mean necessity to spend more time than I have. So still thinking whether I could do it or not! :?
