I've installed a load of puzzle games on my phone because you just don't get that broad kind of mental stimulation in work.

eg Lumosity http://www.lumosity.com/

I don't think it's childish because until now a lot of adults still loves to play especially online games. And parents do play with their children too, so don't think playing is childish.

Thank you!

Alexandoy wrote:I got a laugh with the title. Entertainment is part of man's nature that's why the ways of entertainment is almost endless. Part of it are games, be it parlor games, board games or computer games. No, it is not childish to play. Actually playing is good for the adult mind.

I agree with Alexandoy we play games to entertain us it doesn't matter what type. some people feel video games are for kids as well as cartoons but not all. the original video game pinball is looked at as a game adults can play and the modern day video game is like a cousin to pinball.

No. Games are an excellent path to creativity and are a blast to play when you have family over. Games have evolved to a more mature audience all while still giving kids plenty of games. Games are also great for your mind as they improve cognitive capacity and help speed. I don't think videogames are bad in the slightest.

Yes i think they are childish this are things that are meant to teach kids to be focused, and learn how deal or solve certain things it's like general knowledge, why would a grownup want to play games when there are so many things he or she can do

It depends on which game you play and how long you play. Is it not. If you are playing for hours together means (PS 3 are exempted from this). Others may thing you are childish.

Thanks for your message in the reputation thing. :D

As to why? Well, you can develop reaction skills that you just wouldn't bother to develop in the real world plus things like learning a race track before you go to a real one or learning about the way cars handle on the limits. I learnt a lot playing Gran Turismo and because I understood how you could easily spin/crash a high powered RWD car by playing, I avoided crashing my real sports cars that I ended up buying and taking on tracks - TVR, Skylines, etc.

In any case, much of what adults do is a waste of time. Shopping, watching TV, gardening... Plus I can do all the stuff like gym training, sports, personal development and still have time to play games. :)

playing games is good for you
i like the idea of gamifying education
this education system was created during victorian britain and it needs to change
adding games to education can give you better sense of progresion and thus better expirience
this is just one example where games can be of use

What type of games you mean? If it's computer games on Facebook I don't but you have to think of real life first. Games are a distraction from all the hard work you put into your life. I don't get to play them anymore though, no time.

I don't think it is childish.Actually it is very good for the brain to play games. The brain is rapidly working when you play games and you develop certain skills like better observation of details. That happened to me, and my reflexes are so good.
