My wife's Dell computer hard drive crashed twice and Operating System crashed once.
I heard those problems don't happen as often with Apple computers (MacBook Pro's, etc.)
What are your thoughts?

The issues you mentioned above can all be easily sorted out unless you are a computer noob.
First: "catching viruses" Most of the times Windows warns you because of viruses is in the process of program installation. You may even be installing an antivirus and having Windows warning you. This is just a feature to prevent programs from auto-installing themselves on the computer or to simply ask for administrator permission (administrator which should have understandment on computers (not always the case but whatever) Installing an antivirus should protect your from most threats on the web. Plus if you don't browse on strange websites or have someone trying to rip your head off, you should be safe.
Second: "running out of memory" This problem affects all computers with no exception for this problem to happen you either need a sluggish computer or simply open 100 programs at the same time or fill your hard drive with files. The money you would spend on a Mac is enough to either get a Windows computer with much better spec's or a room of extra hard drives.
Third: "why to buy a Mac" if you want something easy to setup to run general programs without much trouble and you have the money I'd say that you should definitely go with the Mac (even although you could do the same thing for a lower price with Windows). However if you are the guy who likes to go overkill or simply doesn't have a big budget, then you have no choice other than going with Windows. Plus Windows runs much more programs such as games.
If you are thinking of changing computer, please backup your data and perform a clean install of Windows on your machine and see if the improvements are good enough for you before spending a ridiculous amount of money on a computer that just limits your possibilities.
Windows is far better.
Hope this helps.

It is true that Macs are less likely to be infected with a virus. However it is still possible. A Mac shouldn't run out of ram with normal everyday use but so shouldn't a pc. For such thing to happen you need to have a bunch of memory hogging programs running at the same time. Plus with a Mac you can't add ram to your system. Running out of space on your hard drive can only be solved by either clearing the junk in your system or getting more storage. This is a problem that affects both platforms.
