Re: What is the benefit behind facebook gonna add dislike op

Definitely facebook will make money by any feature it adds to its empire. I read in an online article that it will not be a dislike button but an empathy button. In my opinion this is required. People posts some bad happenings they are going through and other "like" it , literally it is not a good thing to see in that way.
An empathy button will be good.

If likes are bought these days, then the dislikes will also be bought by the competing product owners to create a bad reputation of the competitor product on the market. Say for rxample, Product A owner hires people to like his FB page/posts and at the same time send people to dislike the posts of the competitor posts.

I would be very happy if there will be dislike button on facebook and will dislike those who love to flaunt their expensive things there. I just hate lofty people friend.

I don't use facebook, but aren't people allowed to express their opinion?

I can go ahead re-write the title of this thread: "What is the benefit of the like button"? Isn't it to express your positive feeling towards a photo, a image or a thought? I'm sure it isn't for providing help for kids in Africa or that one kid that has a problem with his leg.

Why shouldn't a negative feeling/different opinion be allowed as well?

Just remember one thing: just because the feature is available, it doesn't mean you have to use it.

But everyone isn't same, some peoples just Abusive such options instead of using them how they should be used, thats what was my point.

That will be interesting to see how people will react with that new buttom. As these days to give sympathy it is very hard, we have to comment but some people are also hitting like buttom to show sympathy as of now.

It will avoid people to speeak dumb things i think. And more important when you say a bad new people can dislike. It is very weird when you say that something bad happened and people like it

For me the sympathy button is great, I belong to a group that sends cards to terminally ill children, a lot get very ill or pass away, you don't want to hit the "like" button for this, so sympathy would be great.

Dislike is good to, as you can't possibly like everything, sometimes there is bad news up and you may not want to comment, but hit the dislike button to support the person with the problem.

I don't think adding these button will do anything good for users. To express to emotions you can use emotion symbols. But yes ill mannered people can use new added button to hurt someone.

I have heard about facebook possibly adding the dislike feature, but they never seem to actually add it. I think that it would make facebook an even more negative place if they were to add it.

I think it's just to revive interest of the users. facebook has to be innovative and keep adding new things to keep the interest of the users alive.

Dislike button is not at all necessary to add because, if we like a particular post then we can click on LIKE button, but if we did not click on the LIKE button, naturally it is understood that we disliked it . Then what is the need to add a DISLIKE button ? It only makes us hate a person who dislikes our posts and provokes us to take revenge by disliking his posts also in retaliation.

facebook like other companies always have to keep moving, keep building and reinventing itself or it wont be relevant any more. I think a business principal is to keep making new products so this is just that it has the media talking about it and it would be good to be able to dislike some crappy content on facebook you don't like instead of just ignoring

I think the dislike button is a good idea. The only bad thing I can see happening is it causing some drama on peoples walls and huge discussions for debate on some topics. This will also solve the issue of when I have seen people liking a status that most people wouldn't like if its sad or something. It has advantages and downsides too.

I think it can be a good thing. There are some facebook "comments" or posts that are quite disturbing or very offensive so adding a dislike button can be a good thing. Similar to other websites where you can get a thumbs up or thumbs down according to your reply, I think facebook can add the dislike button. How we use it, well, that's a different thing.

I believe that if they do that, they may start losing their users. Nobody wants to post something and have more "dislikes" than "likes". It will make them feel bad, and therefore will make people post less, which eventually may lead to users being less time on the site, and finally just dropping it.

Personally I'm using facebook WAY less than I did before. Why? Simple, it only bothered me. Uninstalled the mobile app, and now I check the website once per day. If there was a dislike button, I wouldn't use it at all.
