Re: Your laptop's battery performance?

I have a Chromebook but I normally have it plugged into the charger. When I'm too lazy to do that and run it off the battery it usually lasts around 2-3 hours. I've never heard of one that lasted 5 hours.

My battery would last about 2 and one half hours. But after constant usage it has been depleted. Without a battery if feels like using a desktop that is plugged in and stationary. I have to buy a new battery so that I can be more mobile.

I usually use my laptop plugged in, but I use it on battery sometimes because keeping it plugged in all the time decreases battery life. Usually I can get 3-4 hours out of a full battery, maybe more, but it depends on what I'm doing. Most of the Photoshop stuff uses more power.

Mine lasts about an hour - It used to last four. The problem is...when you leave them plugged in when it's 100% or over, it gradually makes the battery worse. You should also charge it right up and then let it die straight back down, as this wil optimise the battery the best.

Most of the time I used my laptop plugged in to make sure the battery will not drain and when it is fully charge that is the time I will plug it off.Without plugging in,the battery usually last to three to four hours depending on what I am doing. :)

I noticed these past two weeks when I open my lap top there is a notification telling me my battery needs to be replaced. I have an HP lap top and I have not yet done my research if this is an immediate concern. So far fully charged my lap top lasts around 35- 45 minutes. :)

Be aware you can save a lot of money buying a battery from Ebay instead of a dealer. I have bought both laptop and phone batteries there and never been disappointing, but you do need to keep your wits about you.

I thought I had solved my battery problem by following something I found online about deleting the thing associated with the battery in the section you see the drivers and other stuff. I found out recently it did not work as it cut off again at 68 percent power unplugged. so im not sure what the problem is, can a overheating computer ruin a battery and make it not read right?

The battery of the laptop I am using lasts around 3 hours idling, and slightly more than one hour under load, even if its just a year old and I detach the battery when I'm plugged in, which I only uses battery for around 4 times for its lifetime.

Yes, an overheating computer will ruin its battery life, not instantly, but it wears faster under hot temperatures. Well, at least I think yours not as intense like what my CPU and GPU did ( 98 degrees and 86 degrees respectively ) under load. Its the opposite for cold environments, the battery will hold less charge, but when exposed back to warm temperatures it will regain its charge. At least that's what I've read before.

But for your case, I think your laptop should have aged for a couple of years. I think there are guides online to recalibrating battery meters ( though it shouldn't be done frequently ). I once have used a laptop that will power down when it reaches 90% down from 100%. Perhaps your battery needs a change.

Your original laptop's battery is really enduring. I know some laptop's battery lasts for 15 hours and 12 minutes with its six-cell battery on board. I don't know if it has also a 6-cell battery.

If you want to have the same efficient of your original battery, it couldn't be guaranteed for a replacement battery. Better get it or purchase from the manufacturer itself. But if not, just be contented with 3-hour battery performance.

I am using Dell Inspiron model laptop purchased 5 years ago and its battery stops functioning last month. I purchased a new original Dell battery last month and it is working fine, giving 4 hours+ backup.

im unsure about my battery if its been warped or if i need to reset the bios. it still cuts off at 68 percent and i dont know why. i used hp assistant to check the battery and it could read it correctly so i just keep it plugged in all the time.

Mine, that is about 3 years old, lasts for about 1 hour without power supply.

I heard that it is important to cut off power supply whenever your battery meter reads full.

In my opinion, this is a cumbersome undertaking as I'm usually fully immersed in whatever I'm doing.

I cannot thus realistically always check when my battery is full and disconnect the power source.

Mine is unspeakable! First of all it takes forever to charge and then it takes few minutes to get drained and if I dare run it on the chord, I can virtually fry an egg on it! It gets that hot. :|
