I don't know what you used, but my Linux desktop is icons I click to run programs just like my Windows is. I can't remember the last time I had to enter any commands. Look at PCLinuxOS.

Linux is a freeware application for operating system. Isn't it? I was once used it sometime in 2000 I think. It has a similar word processor, excel comparable to MS. Games are also run in Linux. I don't know what terminal are you talking about.

Terminal is an application that runs in Linux to issue commands directly to the Kernel in text only, but most people coming from a Windows environment prefer a manager like Gnome, KDE, or XFCE. The beauty of this arrangement is it's simple to completely change the look and feel without altering the functionality.

Yes, but only for school and for work. Linux is not as user friendly as Windows so at home I stick to Windows.

Just like Dirkziff , I too tried Ubuntu few years ago but ended up returning tо windows within one week . I was not comfortable with it and felt it very difficult as it demands command for every action

I don't know if anyone bothers to read previous comments , but this is simply NOT TRUE. Many years ago Linux was mostly text based, but today they have normal desktop environments similar to Windows and are just as easy to run.

It is an operating system with a primary function of running programs and manipulating files. The only difference between it and Windows is the lack of vulnerability to virus and malware attacks and the cost (it's free).

If you really want to know, spend even a little time on YouTube watching demos and see for yourself, but don't listen to gossip.

Definitely i will watch the you tube videos and also check the link provided by you. Thanks for the help. If the new version of linux is free, and also is good compared with the windows and it is not vulnerable to virus and malware attacks, then definitely i will think of installing it.

Now you are starting to get the idea. Come back if you get more questions.

The reviews about Linux is really great and many people talk about it good . So i have decided to add Linux to my existing Windows so that i can relieve a sigh of relief regarding Malwares which attacks my system frequently inspite of installing anti virus and periodical scaning
