I think this came on a little too strongly. It is understandable given your frustration but I still think it depends on the user and for the purposes intended. May be you can look at the alternatives but aren't there an auto updating option on it?

Evidently my computer updates Java all the time because I never have to update it.

i dont even have java on my computer most of the sites i use dont need it. when i do come to a site that needs it sometimes i just close the notification box and continue and the site still works well. its like quicktime its growing obsolete not javacript but java consoles

I had to drop out of Java class that I was taken in college before simply I had a headache trying to understand and comprehend what I was doing. I don't necessarily hate it, it just doesn't agree with my learning process
