I too have a iPhone 5S and the battery life is equally long. The previous phones I've had (including Android) worked best by draining the battery to the end. However, I would be forced to charge before 25% as the battery sometimes randomly shut off beyond this point.
Even though I do think there are ideal charging points, sometimes our schedules don't allow us to charge our phones when we want. In particular with myself, I can't afford for my phone to die throughout the day as I always have to stay in communication with certain people I find important in my life.
