I remember creating my account on Facebook not primary for their social platform but just because of their games. And also now I rarely use it, I only use mainly their messenger now.

The Facebook games are great tools for marketing actually. People are willing to befriend strangers so someone will gift them on the games they play. There are many games on Facebook that I don't play but I use for the gifting system. Actively gifting players of a popular Facebook game is a great way to maintain Facebook friends. I created an Alternate Facebook account I use for marketing, this account don't have my friends and family because I do not want them to see me having a spammy timeline.

I advertise myself on the comment section of popular facebook games and tell people to add me in exchange I will gift them everyday. I give thousands of people everyday to maintain thousands of Facebook friends who are complete strangers. That is how I get referrals.

Really, two? I find it hard to believe. I still think that Facebook can be a good for free messaging or contact to my family at least. Like sending files over the private message for simple docs or files will suffice.

That's why it's a social networking site. To be connected to your relatives or family and have contacts similar to contacts on your phone but this one has more features and free chat or PM as well.

I stopped using facebook over four years ago. I prefer twitter or even instagram. Facebook just has a way of putting me off especially when you encounter extremely long posts that have little meaning.
Social media for me is just a tool of catching up with what has been happening and twitter offers a quick method of being able to do such.
In facebook things may take decades as there is also a tendency for old posts to be recycled.

That was my reason too. Like an idiot I even created two accounts: one personal, one business. Didn't take me long to see that was not a proper management of my time. I now have one account mainly for home business purposes (affiliate marketing, blogging, etc.). But I interact with folks in my network on a personal level and chit chat socially as well. However, if I'm being honest, I wouldn't be on any social media if it weren't for the fact that people are there. Real people. They don't call the network Facebookistan for nothing! It is like a country. I've met real people and I have made new friends. People I would never get to know otherwise because I work from home and I will never travel to any of the places where these people live. It's kind of like having a pen pal relationship only it's on the Internet instead via snail mail. Also you meet like-minded people trying to work online like you do and you can share experiences and get advice. If there was another way for me to do these things without social media, I'd probably use the other way. But since these Facebook and other social media networks have been created, I'm using them. File it under PROGRESS!
