10,000 Twitter Characters

Postby nakitakona » 16 Jan 2016, 06:40

Below is the actual 10,000 characters I have composed awhile ago. What can you say about it?

Twitter to increase its character message usage to 10,000 from the original which is 140 may be feasible or practical. But to look at it, it seems impractical to that extent. Imagine 10,000 letters of the alphabet including space. How do they look?

Twitter's platform is not comparable to email facility or writing space in a blog for that matter. Twitter is set up to send short messages which are easy to read, easy to understand, easy to interact in the soonest, shortest time. The point is the simplest facility to communicate.

We may guess why this kind of suggestion has come up for the reason Twitter is becoming the best social media sharing wherein there are so many users availing the said media. And the writing message interface is too limited to accommodate lengthy messages or a short blog for that matter.

Just imagine this kind of post I made. This practically and actually contains 10,000 characters which include the text and the spaces occupied. You've the raw idea how does it look.

With that kind of look, does Twitter has to increase its required writing character to be that long? Is business highly promoted in Twitter for that change or innovation?

No offense intended, but having your mind set on filling the space is conducive to using unnecessary content as filler. I like the 140 character limit, because it makes people think and consider every word before they post.

To be honest, it would be okay for me to increase the character. I don't have to cut the tweet I ahve to post and it was less hassle.

If twitter increases character limit, then it will be no more twitter, it will be just like other social media platform.

I think ten thousand words will be too much. There are many times when I feel that 140 words is not enough ( especially when I have to promote my post with a long titlte, have to add a custom message to my followers and add hastags too ) and there should be few more characters but not the ten thousand characters. It will be better to just doube it and make the maximum limit close to 300 or 300.

This would how it should be when that 10,000 characters would be accommodated. Actually, we don't have to consume all those characters. At least we have still the space to use in case we have long message to write.

By the way, have remembered before that the characters used in texting in our cellphone is limited to 140? Now you could text as many character you want. But you know what is the after effect of sending more characters, some of those message are missing. I hope it wouldn't happen in Twitter too. This plan of increasing the number of characters is tantamount to a forum writing. Do you agree with that?

Twitter will still show the normal size as before unless you expend the message, but I am not very sure about the purpose it will serve. Twitter is already facing technical problems and often going down.

Well, they are trying to come up with strategies to cope. I think the company is not stable especially having 4 executives resigning recently.

I am active on Twitter and I like it because the posts are shortened that we can read easily. Yet, there will be the upcoming changes on Twitter. The hashtag RIP Twitter trended after it was announced.

I'm not exactly sure of your point.

If you want to post 10k characters, use Facebook.

The point is they don't want you to have to use Facebook, EVER!

I like the 140 characters because that is Twitter trademark when they first started. It forced people to think before they post, and it also made the sentence so much condensed, clear, and concise to what the poster wanted to say. Reading it also was better, no rambling on :)

I do not think that I would like to read a post on Twitter that was that long. I usually do not even read posts like that on Facebook. It takes too much time to read especially when I just want to glance at things to see what is going on.

I think that is what makes twitter different they are a micro blogging site. Not everyone has the patience or time to compose a lengthy post. Maybe they should allow for a few more characters but not too many.

I agree with you on this. I mean if it ended up allowing that much characters, it is no longer a "tweet" isn't it?

In my view, twitter is for those who know what they want to write.

For those who have to writer 3 sentences before deciding what to write, facebook and blogs are a welcome option.
