Not used my phone since 6 months

Postby ksridharprasad » 21 Jan 2016, 05:38

Hi Friends,

After reaching USA, I have not recharged my Airtel wireless provider since 8 months, before starting I recharged with International roaming and talk of Rs 500.00. But this talk was over within 15 days times after that I have tried to recharge my phone with small amount by Mobikwik app, the amount was deducted from my account but the amount was not reached/recharged. After that I never tried to recharge my phone, from that time I am getting sms regularly from banks, mutual funds, and all other commercial sms. Today I have received a message that they are stopping my service because I have not talked since 150 days with my number now what I have to do?

You contact support for your provider, there is no way they can help you on this Forum.

Like old buddy has said you need to call the mobile provider to get more information, maybe one of their rules is if the phone is not in use for maybe 100 days they disconnect it and you are over 100 days just contact them and find out,

I'm pretty sure if you can get in touch with them, they'll be able to keep your number online. Alternatively, make a topup and call someone for a brief conversation. :)

You have to contact Airtel for the assistance. They will guide you correctly. My lenovo is also having Airtel sim only and daily i will get many messages regarding their schemes and offers. if you wish to have that number then i will send you or you can find out from the net and send a mail to them

You may want to ask if it's possible to reinstate your account/phone number. Otherwise, you need to buy a new sim.

Airtel will deactivate the number if it is unused and has balance below Rs 20 and after you recieve the message of deactivation you will have 15 days of grace period within the 15 days you will have to go to the airtel customer care center and get it reactivated by paying some fee but after the 15 days the number will be recycled and might be given to someone else.

Yeah, I've suffered the same fate, even though I've not moved from my country.

I gather that mobile carriers incur costs for each active SIM.

This is why they periodically review and inactivate dormant SIMs.
