Technology for spectacle free life

Postby Decentlady » 22 Apr 2016, 08:27

Among others modalities of treatment for glass free life, LASIK has rapidly gained popularity. Catering for a large chunk of spectacles-wearing population it seems like a promising option. Would you trust this advancement of technology to help your loved ones to be spectacle free?

My youngest son had it years ago (he is now 34) and it made a huge difference in his life already. Since he makes his living as a salesman, appearances are very important to him and he already had a bad experience with contacts. I would say I trust the procedure to a very high degree.

Personally I do very well with reading glasses, so at 77 years old I won't be going to take that option any time soon.

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

I never really found out too much about this procedure, but I can see how it would be very beneficial to many people who wear glasses. I do not like wearing glasses, but my eyesight is not that bad where I have to wear them all the time. Actually, I have not even worn glasses for a few years. I would probably trust this procedure though as long as I was confident about the doctor doing it.

My brother in-law had Lassik surgery in his eyes years ago, and he loves it! He has no problem with his vision. I wish I was still younger to do this surgery since I hate wearing glasses.

My teenager right now wants to do Lassik surgery when he is a bit older, so will see if I am going to take this route.

I'm quite interested in getting my eyes fixed, but may have to do something more than the standard Lasik type of treatment. Possibly I might go for lens replacement. I'm over 50 and very short-sighted, and also have presbyopia - which is when you can't read something close up. If I get contact lenses for instance, I would probably still need reading glasses for close vision as well!

I have been wearing contact lenses for years. I have both near and far-sighted problem. The doctor prescribed one lens for up close seeing in one eye, and one lens for seeing distance in another. They have worked out fantastically for years now. I am very uncomfortable with glasses.

It is amazing what they can do with a laser.

I see no harm in it however, in some cases, it is not a permanent fix.

At 69, and been wearing glasses since high school. I am content to keep wearing glasses.

I have already considered to do Lassik surgery, but to be honest I am a little bit afraid. I wear glasses since I was a child and during teen I changed to contacts. I vision is not that bad and it is stable for many years now, maybe one day I get the courage and get ride of the contacts.

If you aren't having cataracts then CK would be an ideal surgery for you both.
