Postby Decentlady » 24 Apr 2016, 12:40

Which is better choice for PC for home use, playing games and you tube videos, assembled or branded?
Any helpful suggestions are highly appreciated.

If I want a new one, I usually just get a Dell on sale somewhere. However that last couple have been refurbished Dell from Ebay for just over $100.

I think I got a bit confused reading this in regards to what assembled and branded means. Every so many years my boyfriend saves up over $1,000 to build a gaming PC for himself since its cheaper then buying a pre built one. My gaming PC I bought pre build and kind of regret it. It works great but I would of saved money probably having it built.

What type of games are you playing? browser games? or something else? I always check the specs of a PC before buying. How much RAM, hard drive, video card, etc. All important to take into consideration I think.

I may not be 100% certain with what I am going to say so you may want to research it. I do believe that browser games mainly run off of Java, flash, stuff like that. And many websites use those anyways just keep them updated and its all good. As long as the new PC is not cluttered with junk like multiple downloadable web search bars and other things it should be okay. I am noticing even the lower end PCs these days are giving people more hard drive space and RAM anyways so that is a bonus too.

I used to buy refurbished from Tiger Direct.

Then I got a Gateway and now have an ACER Desktop and a Toshiba laptop.

All bought new.

So I would say new and out of the box, especially that the name brands are available at Walmart.

I'd like to get an assembled one, because you can have specs to your liking, but if you're on a budget, a branded one would be the choice for you I think.

Most people wouldn't know what specs to ask for. That includes me, after so many years out of the loop.

Several factors would come into play here.

Firstly, you'd consider the amount of time you have in your hands.

If you've ample time, you'd go for the assembled PC.

Alternatively, if you lack ample time but have sufficient cash, you would go for the ready-made assembled PC.

I have a cousin who does this for us so we mostly have assembled PCs in my home country that my Mom used. Our first PC was a pre-built one (I think it was IBM) and was really expensive! So if you know somebody who can choose the hardware specs for you, the assembled one is the best.
