What is the best storage facility?

Postby Decentlady » 26 Apr 2016, 12:52

I have shifted from a pen drive to external hard drive with larger capacity for storage. Eventually that too got filled up. Any new updates on this area for better storage of files from a computer?

Well there are many cloud storage options that come with a price of course, or you can get a bigger capacity external hard drive.

I think a good idea is to use several storage options. I have external drives. I use Dropbox for many documents and photos. I also use Livedrive as a backup - this has unlimited storage capacity for a good price. If you need the speed, then local drives are the only option. The good thing is that storage gets cheaper every year. You can buy SSDs to use externally as well, which are very useful for photo and video editing. If you connect via USB3, the speed is very quick.

I have many USB thumb drives, and two portable hard drives so far. If I am going to pay for cloud storage, I may just as well buy myself another portable hard drive since I don't like the idea of having my stuffs out there :)

Cloud storage is useful not only for backup. I use it to access some photos and other files on my iphone. It is also used by other applications as a way of syncing their databases between different computers or mobile devices.
