Out of Control Email

Postby oldfriend » 10 May 2016, 12:53

I have several Email accounts and I wind up deleting most of the Emails every morning.

If I miss a day it takes a good 30 minutes to read through everything and delete the junk. Arghhhhhh!

It is hard to believe there is so much stuff to sell or how urgent something is in order to get my attention so I can make an intelligent decision. Give me a break!

I think sometimes with the amount of Email, the incredible offers, and the critical items of the day that demand my attention, I must be the Richest, Most Powerful, Above the President, and Most Crucial Man in the World. :D

Anyone else exalted to this same level?

I have 3 important email accounts but the rest are junky or for signup stuff I was doing. My main email has been getting a lot of garbage though which is annoying. Even with unsubscribing to some stuff the garbage emails are still coming in. I always have a lot to go through too. It's like a digital post office but I don't have to leave the house

I only really use one email address and I had to unsubscribe to a lot of things that I had signed up for, but I still get some that maybe one day I will need to do the same thing to. I will usually just delete the ones that are from addresses that I am not familiar with since it is most likely just junk or spam. I am like you though that if I miss a day I will end up with a million the next day.

I have mine pretty much under control. I don't sign up for much and I know how to filter, so it's easier to control.

If I get anything like that in my Gmail account I send them to a folder where they can rest in peace. But I am not talking about spam folder in this case.

I just make it a habit to delete the promotion and spam mail every morning and that's enough. I usually open my email thru my phone and I find it easier to delete it thru it but if I needed to respond to an important mail, I log in thru my laptop.

I only keep three email accounts now, one for family and close friends, one for work, and one for my son's school and sport! I went through them each morning, and delete or spam them so I can have some control and don't spend so much time going through them once in a while.

I have multiple email accounts but I have them under control. I have a spam setting on my accounts and if I get an email I want, I allow it and remove it from the spam folder.

I just have two email accounts, one of them I check daily and delete or mark as spam some emails, the other one I only check it three times a week because it's not so important.

If you have multiple email accounts to keep under control, then I would use a program like Thunderbird to log into all of them. It's easy to set up filters for each account, and the spam filtering is pretty good too.

You can check multiple email addresses within Gmail too - I think this link is a good place to start:

cheers,

Jon.

I just downloaded a new app for Windows 10 that can check multiple email inboxes including Gmail, plus calendars and who knows what all. I am going to give it a run and see how it works. So far I really like it.

If you get a lot of subscription emails from ForumCoin you could manage them here. You could also change your notification settings here.

I don't subscribe to topics by default, but use the My posts link (in our top nav bar) to check out replies to posts I've made.

Thanks Fergal but I like Emails from FC.

FC is not the problem. It is all the trips and surveys that are just a click away from reality.

have 5 email accounts, only 2 of them are important email account that don't get any junk emails. The rest are for signups and PTC or Surveys.

I don't delete those junk mails daily but quarterly. Once the emails sum up to 999 emails, I just click in bulk and delete the whole bunch of them

I've been trying the Windows Mail app in W10, which seems to handle multiple accounts ok. It doesn't have the flexibility of some other things like Thunderbird, or the normal Gmail webmail system.

For filtering, it's nice to have an option like Gmail's menu item, "Filter messages like this", which makes it very easy to organise where your messages go,

cheers,

Jon.

I use multiple computers, so I do the bulk of my email on Linux using quick logons to Gmail with LastPass to avoid spyware, then only a few safer email boxes on Win 10 with the Mail app.

I regularly check the junk mails for possible mistakes. Sometimes there is a legitimate email that goes in that spam box. And with spam emails getting into my inbox, I push it to the spam folder. There are some interesting emails particularly those inheritance and big money in a bank account somewhere in Liberia or Nigeria. It's really fun reading them.

I was a member in Swom.com and if we are a gold member we have to post 200 posts daily asking the standard members to become gold members and this is mandatory to earn. So daily i used to get few hundreds of mails ( notifications) to my mail box which takes atleast 30 minutes to check and delete .
